This event's driver interview is with Ashleigh Fletcher-Russell , a novice driver in the Formula Junior 1 class.

Congratulations, Ashleigh. You did really well today!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm 9 and a half years old, and umm, I autocrossed one time before.

What were you driving today?
It's read and black. It's a Emmick Briggs, and it's really, really fast!

You got a lot faster each time you drove. How did you do that?
Well, my first time, I went slow to learn the course, then I went faster and faster each time with the pedals. I got a re-do one time, and the last one was my fastest.
Everybody in my family races except my Grandma. My Grandpa drives a Miata, my Dad drives a Subi, a Sabu, ummm, a WRX. Heehee! I can't say that word! My mom drives a Tiburon. I beat my mom!

Do you want to keep doing this?
Yeah, it's really fun. Sometime I might not be able to be there because I race quarter midgets, too. (Mom adds that Ashleigh, whose nickname is Ladybug, has been racing since she was 4 1/2, and was the 2004 Junior Honda Champion for local region quarter midgets)

You helped the announcers, today too, didn't you?
Yeah, that was really fun!

Was it more fun than driving?
Umm, I don't know. About the same. Maybe a little more fun!

Thank you, Ashleigh, and congratulations again.
Thank you! And thank you for interviewing me!
