Default Some clarification and consensus for SM needed

The rules state:

Quote:
The firewall, roof, doors, rear quarter panels, floor pan, trunk lid (if any) or rear hatch (if any) must remain stock.
But then it says:

Quote:
This specifically allows replacement hoods, fenders, wings, front & rear fascias, side skirts, and fender flares...
Clear as mud...I was looking into a CF hood and decklid, legal in SM?

Quote:
Except as noted by these rules and the referenced rules, vehicles must be as originally delivered including all road going components such as lights, wipers, interior, heater, etc.

Rear passenger seat(s) do(es) not need to be retained.
So full interior minus rear seat and I'm going to assume trunk carpet and carboard?

Also, and this is for Chris S., look like I was 100% wrong on the fender liners, rules state:

Quote:
Non-metallic fender liners may be modified, replaced, or removed.

CF hood, OK. CF trunk, not OK. I could have sworn both were OK, but assuming you quoted the current rulebook, I guess not. Basically any exterior bolted to the body can be replaced except the trunk/hatch and doors. Anything (typically) welded on must stay original.

I want to say you have to keep the trunk carpet and whatnot that's attached to the car. The spare tire cover, if not actually attached can be removed. All the other trim and carpet on the sides is attached in every car I've seen so it has to stay.

SM Bodywork rule, May 2012 Rulebook:

Quote:
I. Front hoods (engine covers), engine covers, trunk lids and hatches
not containing glass, front fenders, rear fenders not part of chassis
structure (unibody), front & rear facias, and side skirts may be
modified or replaced, and may be attached with removable fasteners.
Associated hardware including latches, hinges, window washer
nozzles, and hood liners may be modified, removed, or replaced.
This does not permit removal of the remainder of the window washer
system. Fenders may be flared as per Street Prepared. Non-metallic
fender liners may be modified, replaced, or removed.

It seems that I should read the rulebook before commenting. Pretty much you can modify anything bolted to the chassis except the doors. Plus you can flare the fenders as much as you want outboard of the hub face.

Thanks Chris. I love the washer rule. Leave the bottle and the pump in the engine bay, empty. That's worth at least a tenth.

There's a proposal out in the current FasTrack to fix the washer system rule (allowing complete removal.)

Write to http://sebscca.com/ if you have an opinion on it!
