Welcome!
Glad you've decided to join us. You'll have a GREAT time. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
At the event, just about anyone will be able to answer any questions you have. The chiefs will be wearing special hats I hear, so if you have a special question just look for the hat.
As a novice, you can take rides any time you're not working. Take advantage of it! Typically the faster cars are the ones with the most stickers on them, but not always. Hope you have a great time on the 15th.

During the winter events, anyone can take rides at any time, as well as novices, just to clarify.
Once the summer series starts, though, it's only novices.

Patrick,
You will find this a fun and friendly group. Feel free to ask questions of just about anyone.
You will get some great advice and have a blast. ( Jesse is espcially helpful, ((thanks for the sticker tip Jesse I definetly need more stickers:) ))
I am in SM2 so we will probably be in grid together.

Patrick, there is always a novice meeting and course walk at our events. It's usually around 8:15, so listen for the announcement and take advantage; it's very helpful, and not just for novices!
See you on the 15th.

Patrick,
With getting rides and your in SM, I would definitely look for Mike Minear since he drives a SS too.

Actually, Mike and I have been in contact for quite some time (I joined the SCCA prior to getting deployed to Iraq last year). He's a wealth of knowledge.
I've really enjoyed the videos you folks (generic-racing) linked from last years event. I can't wait to join the fun.

That's good to hear. Well if the weather is good and your not working during STS heat, stop bye and I'll be glad to give you a ride in the Civic. Nothing like a SS but alot of fun. :)

Hi Patrick,
Welcome, were all glad to have you join us! One thing that's "special" about our World Arena site is we self-impose a sound control program, we're trying to be good neighbors to the folks around us. I seem to remember that Mike M was close to our limit (maybe hit it once)???? Please do yourself a favor and read the sound regulations posted in the Supplemental Rules area on this site. Not knowing what your exhaust set-up is, it might be wise to bring something you can add to your exhaust to quiet it down, on the unlikely possibility that you hit or exceed the limit. As the ex-Sound chief, I know that we would truly *hate* to ruin your first event because of sound. Please feel free to email me if you'd like some more help.

Barry, you're right I did exceed the limit once. Course desing and atmosheric conditions seem to play big roles in how the meter reacts to each car. I ended up adding a Dynomax bullet muffler in the main pipe of the exhaust and that seemed to drop the sound power just enough. If I remeber right, it now registers high 80's at worst. I have discussed this with Patrick and told him about the steel wool trick for a temporary solution. I have not heard Patricks car, so I don't know if he will need it or not but his car does not have the factory GM exhaust so he might.

I am preparing to bring along the steel wool. I too think I'll be to loud. Hopefully I'll be able to control the noise level without purchasing any additional parts.
By the way, I just received my magnetized numbers and letters for the event on Sunday. If anyone is interested getting some of these, I think the price is reasonable. I paid $30 for 10 items.

That's an excellent price. Where did you get them and how well do they stick?

His company is called SS Graphics. Email is ssgraphics@verizon.net
He was selling them on ebay, I called him/email him. Gave him the size and shape and he did the rest. I haven't slapped them on my car yet, it's still in Ft. Luption. I'll try them on my truck and let you know.
