For the third year in a row, the local Sertoma Club will sponsor the Colorado Springs Soap Box Derby Regional Championship. Class winners earn a subsidized trip to Akron Ohio to compete in the National Championship event. Learn more about SBD at www.ppsbd.com (http://www.ppsbd.com) and www.aasbd.com (http://www.aasbd.com).
CDR supports the Soap Box Derby by providing timing services and public address equipment. (COR also supports SBD by lending CDR their timing equipment for the event).
There are two "event days," June 11 and June 25. June 11 is a practice day, and June 25 is the actual event. We need volunteers to help on both days. "Help" consists of:
- setting up and packing up the equipment
- running the timing gear and PA (they have their own announcer)
- controlling the start area to ensure timers are ready
Running the timing gear for SBD is much simpler than timing our events, so you don't need any exprience whatsoever
We're also going to set up an Information Table on 25 June that we could use help in manning to spread the word about SCCA.
Reply to this post if you are interested in helping in any capacity.
Thanks!
