I was just curious if there was going to be time trials this year due to the demise of 3 of our CO tracks.

Bob,
With the loss of Mead, and no other suitable tracks nearby, we've had to suspend the TT season for 06. This doesn't mean that there won't be any TT events, but there will not be a series. If there are going to be any TT events, they will be special events only. We can't say where or when, because we simply don't know. but we're looking into other options...Assume though that if any happen, it's likely to be only one or two, and probably not super close either...
Stay tuned to this forum for updates as the year progresses...

Bob,
thanks for the enquiry. Josh and I are working on some alternatives. We should have a better idea by the end of January.
Please watch this forum for updates, as well as a short questionaire to be posted within a few weeks.
many thanks

With all of the tracks gone, I might have to become a NASCAR driver or get into karts... CNS and IMI are about the only paved tracks left up North.
I've always wanted to try the State Patrol track in Golden, but the idea of using it for Time Trials doesn't seem to get a lot of support for some reason. I know they will rent that track out for relatively cheap, because they have done it before. I know people say there is some bump or hill that they may refer to as a "jump"... I don't really see the problem, considering that the conditions at Mead were deemed acceptable, even though it was actually disintegrating as we drove on it. Why not place some cones in the track leading up to this so-called "jump" to make it a safe speed?
Going to a further away track (ie PMI, La Junta, Aspen, and out of state tracks) wouldn't be a problem, except that a lot of people are going to need to be able to count on having a tow home if they need it.

NASA is going to have a TT series at PMI, LaJunta, MMP, and maybe Aspen;

Weston,
The CHP training track is nothing at all like a road racing track. The are very real safety issues with running a TT at the CHP track. Where Mead has some wider track sections for passing, CHP is a narrow two lane road. At Mead, it was said, you could go two wheels off in most places and be okay. Four wheels off, in many places, and you risk breaking something. The CHP track is worse. Two wheels off, and something is possibly gonna get broken. Four wheels off, pretty much anywhere, and you're probably getting towed home...
That, and there are no real worker stations to speak of. The list could go on...
It's not an option for TT.
Back in the day, we used to run autoxes on the skid pads and connecting track there, and it was hardly an ideal site. And that was when we only had 100+ drivers. It wasn't ideal, but it was marginally acceptable for an autox site. But not when the cars can hit 90+ mph...
Other clubs have run events there, true. But we feel the safety risk is too high to run an SCCA TT there.
