Registration is open for the Advanced PDX on March 27th and the TT on March 28th.
Go to WWW.MotorsportReg.com (http://www.motorsportreg.com/) and setup an account and get registered.
The site is really easy to use and you can add as many cars to your garage as you need.

I don't see either event showing up on the calendar. Is there a secret handshake to make it show up?

Edit - the secret handshake is to enter your memberships (SCCA, NASA, BMWCCA) and then the SCCA event shows up!

So... no on-line payment. Do you (Grant) want us to mail payment to:

Ann Hickey 3930 S. Bannock St.

Englewood, CO 80110

Edit - the clues continue to unravel. From the e-mail confirmation:

Please Pay at On-Site Registration Check-in at the track. PAYMENT CAN BE MADE BY VISA, MASTERCARD AND AMERICAN EXPRESS AS WELL AS BY CHECKS AND CASH -- EXACT AMOUNT IS APPRECIATED!! You may mail your entry form to Ann Hickey, 3930 S. Bannock St., Englewood, CO 80110 -- BUT PREFERRED METHOD IS TO PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE.

Whoops, I sent her my money for the school. Should I ask for it back?

I'd send her an e-mail and let her know she should expect it (if you haven't already).

Mark--can you clarify the tech expectation? Specifically, is it get an annual tech done before the event or pay money to get it done at the track?

From the Supplemental Rules (http://www.coloradoscca.org/posts/SuppsHPR032710DS-DS.pdf)for the event...

15. ADDITIONAL PDX / CTT INFORMATION
J. ALL Entrants must have their vehicles tech’d prior to the event. Tech inspection will be held at the track to confirm cars have completed pre-event tech, and meet current safety requirements. Drivers and cars can expect to be impounded during the weekend to ensure tech compliance. Pre-event tech inspections can be conducted at selected service centers along the Front Range. Please see the website for details. Drivers who live further than 50 miles from an approved tech center may have their vehicle tech’d at the track, without charge. Drivers who fail to have a pre-event tech inspection completed, may, with permission from the chief CTT steward, have their car inspected at the track. There will be a $50 fee for such inspections, payable in cash at the track.

I plan to be at the track around 8 AM Friday if there is a practice day or around noon if there isn't.

2 questions pertaining to this;
1) Does this apply to regular PDX as well?
2) Is there still a $40 fee for getting it done at an authorized inspection location?

Yes.

Yes.

The on-site tech fee is per event, so you can see how getting an annual tech done is the way to go. It makes things very quick & painless the day of an event. We just have to verify your paperwork, check your helmet, apply annual stickers to your drivers side door jamb & helmet and put an event sticker on your windshield and you're good-to-go in 5 minutes.

A few more questions...

Is the Friday evening registration and classroom session required for PDX/TT or is it intended for the group 1 & 2 students (non-PDX) ?

From the schedule, it looks like tech and registration are open until after the group 3 session starts. Is there any need to be there at 7 or is later ok for the PDX/TT sessions?

Is the Friday evening registration and classroom session required for PDX/TT or is it intended for the group 1 & 2 students (non-PDX) ?
The PDX classroom session is Saturday morning at the track. The Drivers School students are also required to attend a classroom session but it's separate from the PDX class and it is held on Friday night at "Race Headquarters".

From the supp's (http://www.coloradoscca.org/posts/SuppsHPR032710DS-DS.pdf):

15. ADDITIONAL PDX / CTT INFORMATION
D. The PDX classroom is mandatory for PDX participants. The classroom session will take place in the registration / hospitality building at the track at approximately 8 am.

Attending the drivers meeting is mandatory for the TT entrants.

H. Attendance at the CTT Drivers Meeting is mandatory for all CTT entrants. Meetings will occur in grid 15 minutes prior to the first CTT session on track. Failure to attend the CTT drivers meeting will result in drivers not being allowed on track until a briefing is conducted, and may result in lost track time.
From the schedule, it looks like tech and registration are open until after the group 3 session starts. Is there any need to be there at 7 or is later ok for the PDX/TT sessions?

No, the tech & registration they're referring to in that section of the supp's is for Club Racing. PDX/TT has a separate setup.

I. PDX/CTT check in will be open at the track on Saturday morning 6:45 am to 7:30 am, and Sunday 6:45 am to 7:30 am in the Time Trials Paddock. All PDX and CTT entrants MUST check in during these times. Entrants must show proof of membership, valid driver’s license, and their CTT logbook at Check-in. PDX drivers will be issued their novice logbook during the classroom session or at check in.

We normally paddock on the NE end of the paddock area but I can’t guarantee we’ll be there this time.

So, it looks like from reading the details on the Motorsportreg site that neither the PDX nor CTT will be running the full HPR track, either day ?

Saturday is *short track* and Sunday is *West Track*.

Is that accurate ?

That is correct (AFAIK).
I'd bet it's due to the "small" number of corner workers available to work the course because of the restricted regional. Plus, it gives the instructors 100% eyes-on their students while on course. That’s one of the nice things about holding schools at La Junta. It’s short, flat and the entire track can be seen from just about anywhere.

We ran the west course back in August. It's quite fun. When you come around the T-8 hair-pin you're setup for a good entry into the cross-over that takes you into the corkscrew section (unless your tires are greasy and you’re being chased by “The Civic of Doom” (http://www.youtube.com/user/ReindeermoonImages?feature=moby#p/a/u/1/DEv8_0APQIY) ). It's a little unnerving the first few times because it's a bit of a blind approach, but once you find a visual marker you can dive into the corkscrew and let'er rip.

Very fun!!!

I'm sure I have no idea what you are talking about ;)

We will have to revisit the match-up again this season. I've done some 'cheatin-bastige' enhancements to the M3 in the off season, so it should have a little more 'umph'... but the same Dunlop tires ;)

Signed up to work Sat. and run TT's Sun. The registration page says online payments are not being accepted.

I assume the good folks at Bimmerhaus are still on the list of shops who can pre tech our cars?

As I sit here looking out my window at this beautiful day I can almost smell the brakes, hear the engine's, and feel the g's! Can't wait!

Edit: Also planning to head out on the 20th for the open lapping day (that's a Sat.) if anyone's interested.

Sorry for being MIA last week, I was in the mtns and had limited comms all week, actually very nice in a way.

No online payment for this event, but I would expect it to be in place for future events. The goal of the region, and the club as a whole, is to have all registration happen in the same place (rally, solo, pdx, ctt, r/race) CO region have joined CDR at motorsportreg.com and for 2010 all r/race, pdx, ctt and volunteer and worker registration will happen through that site. If you have already sent Ann H payment don't sweat it, you can confirm she received it on Friday night at the r/race driving school or if you are doing PDX/CTT then AT the track Sat or Sun morning

A really easy system, and also cool if you run with other clubs. Locally PCA and BMW are using the same system, and several surrounding state SCCA regions use it too

Tech

Please pre-event tech. As Mark says, you pay $40 once, get an annual, and then only have to show your helmet, tech decal and get an event sticker at the track. Every PDX car is required to be insepcted at the track, those that have the annual will get a quick tech, similar to Solo, those that don't have the annual have to have a detailed tech. THE problem with leaving tech until the track is that if we find an issue, you will miss all the fun on the track, while sweating in the pits trying to meet tech's standards. If you have a pre-event tech, you will have plenty of time to correct any issues prior to the event.

PLUS, it's cheaper to have your car tech'd before the event. The $50 tech fee at the track goes to buy tasty amber colored bubbly refreshments for the hard working CTT tech staff, who would rather be on track driving than teching your car in the dirt and cold (or heat)

Belts, brakes, fluids, leaks, tires, helmets - those are the items usually needing attention after a cold winter in the garage. you can download the tech form, click the rules link on the website for the link

I am really impressed that at least one person has actually read the event Supps, woohoo. yup folks, all the info you really need per event is located in the Supps < not that any road racer will ever admit reading the Supps> :-)

Probably good info in there like not only are long pants required but also a long sleeve cotton shirt. I can personally attest to the fact that Grant would give the shirt off his back to make the TT's program successful!
