That's the Wendover Pro weeend but I doubt we'd lose too many to that.

If I can be off that weekend, I'd like to help but won't know for a while.

Arnie,
You can put the 3 of us down as interested and most likely available.

I'm in and I know someone else who may be able to help out as an instructor. Do you want me to contact him?

I'm like a lot of the folks above- interested and probably okay. May is a Nielsen rating period for us TV folks so hard to commit for sure this far out.

I'm currently out for this date -- that is the same weekend as the BMW club's first trip to HPR to which I'm committed to instruct. I'll let you know if my availability changes.

I wasn't necessarily looking for a firm commitment at this point (even though I've gotten some!). More like I was letting people know about the date so that when I firm instructors up in April, folks won't be telling me they might have been able to support if I'd let them know about it earlier!

I should be good to go on this as well. :)

OK, are we finalizing a gameplan for the Street Survival in Eagle?

Looking forward to this.

OK, are we finalizing a gameplan for the Street Survival in Eagle?

Sorry I'm late. Been out of town ALOT this month.

I have firm commitments from . . .

Lindsay Wilson
Stephen Kohn
Mark Foust
The Pizzato Clan
Heinz Weichselbaumer
Yargo and Morgan Whaley

The following are "possibles"

Van Townsend
The Ricklis
Nick Caruso
Jamie Leben

I think I remember Ken H. saying you have a conflict, yes?

I expect we'll have around 25 students.

The Rotarians have six experienced coaches supporting.

I don't mind having more coaches than we need, but, we only have six free hotel rooms available.

The new folks (Van, Nick, Yarko and Morgan) definitely need to attend Saturday nite training, so I'd like to give priority to them.

I know some of you will share a room (Pizzatos, Neil & Carol Rickli), and I expect Stephen to do his usual drive up Sunday AM.

Anyone else willing to share a room or drive up Sunday AM?

Anyone on these lists NOT able to make it this weekend?

You are correct, Arn, I will be driving up Sunday morning. Are we meeting for breakfast? When? Where?

Arnie you forgot me!

It's a 3+ hour trip for me so I have to come up the night before, but if you have enough instructors already that's fine too.

Heinz

Arnie and all, I would like to come up the night before. And I wouldn't mind sharing a room, but as a warning, I've been told ( by my wife, son and daughters ) that I do snore. Light sleepers should not apply.

So here's the final coaches list:

Arnie
Sal
AL, Tiff, Nick
Heinz
Yargo
Morgan
Neil
Robert
Stephen

Neil, Robert and Stephen will be driving up Sunday. Everyone else has a comped room at the Inn at Riverwalk in Edwards.

Those of us going up Saturday will meet in the lobby at 6:00PM for dinner and training at Fiestas restaurant.

We'll need to be at the airport at 7:00 AM.

Sal, Morgan and Yargo, please send me an e-mail so I can reply with school information.

Yargo and Morgan - haven't heard from you - Please ring in!!

Hotel for the overniters is the Inn At Riverwalk in Edwards CO. Make sure the desk clerk knows that the Edwards Rotary Club is paying for your room. There's been some confusion in the past.

Schedule and Instructions:

All coaches on site no later than 7:30 AM. No biggie if those of you driving up Sunday AM are a little later, but please be here as close to 7:30 as possible.

7:30 AM - 9:00 A.M. - Coaches help set up registration and classroom areas. 2-3 coaches throw cones and begin set up. The rest remain at registration and pick up a student when they arrive. After student checks in, take them out to their car and do a safety inspection. Some cars will need air. IF YOU HAVE AN AIR TANK OR PORTABLE COMPRESSOR, BRING IT WITH YOU. Also, we did not get any tire gauges this time. IF YOU HAVE A TIRE GAUGE, PLEASE BRING IT WITH YOU. When tech is done on a car, send the student into the classroom and grab another student. When all cars are teched, coaches proceed to help set up exercises.

9:00 - 10:00 Students are in the classroom. Coaches are finishing exercise set up and veteran coaches are training new coaches on the exercises. I'll try to finish up a little early to allow for getting the students to the exercises

10:11:30 - Driving Exercises. We'll have around 21 students so three groups of seven should get to run through the exercises enough times in a 30 minute period.

- Straight Line Braking (panic stop)/Lane change
- Wet Skid Pad
- Slalom

11:30 - 12:30 Lunch

12:30 to 13:30 - Classroom Session II - again, I'll try to end a little early

13:30-1500 - Driving Exercises

- Half Wet skid pad/Figure 8
- Obstacle Avoidance Slalom
- Emergency Lane Change

1500-1530 Students and Coaches in the classroom for wrap up and Certificate presentation

1530 - Group Photo, Students released, coaches clean up

1630 - Coaches dinner at Eagle Diner

What have I forgotten???

Well all I can say is ...that was some event today!

Firetrucks flying by ...jets flying by. It was controlled chaos without the control, but we had a lot of good kids that learned a great deal about their cars and themselves. Makes it all worth it.

Sal, I will agree. Those kids were a lot of fun. I hope they took something away that will make a difference in the way they handle there car. More respect. It was great to be back up there. Thank you all!!! Its truly a pleasure getting to do this with everybody;)

Ginormous thanks to Sal, Tiff, Nick, Stephen, Heinz, Neil, the Eagle County Sheriff's Department, Vail Valley Jet Center and local volunteer coaches for making this our most successful event to date with 22 students!

As expected, we've been invited back for a fall school, date TBD.

Our next opportunity to make a difference will be 1 August at PPIR. Put it on your calendars!!

Thinking about the Eagle school, I think we need to make some minor changes. Watching the confusion of the students moving their cars into the Drunk Car area and out again we should adopt Masterdrive's policy of limiting or not allowing students to back up. If we have a staging area for them to line up in when they arrive, we could tech the cars and then send them off to the features after class. IE send the first 4,5,or 7 cars, then the next group etc. This eliminates the need to backup, count off in groups, and trying to send each car to the correct feature. Comments?

I think we got thrown a curve when the Drunk Drive Sheriff showed up. Didn't expect that. I agree with you, Neil. Just have to plan for that "new feature" next time.
