With all of the car theft lately, a bunch of us are going in on a group buy for these GPS tracking units: http://www.airiq.ca/airiqnewweb2/portal.cfm?chapterID=23
It's a Canadian product that is just now coming to the US. It already works here, but will also be calibrated locally for better accuracy. It's my understanding that this is the base model and will locate/track the car and can be set to alert you, but I don't think it has the remote door unlock or immobilize features.
iirc, we currently have enough buyers to get it for $360 each, but we'd like to get some more so we can get them down to $325 each. Either way, it's a lot cheaper and better than LoJack.
$499 for the unit (list price)
Installation (depends on car)
$49 for 12 actions for a years time
$99 for 180 actions in a years time
The group buy prices will be as follows:
min of 5 buyers: $399+tax plus install
6-10 buyers: $360+tax plus install
11+ buyers: $325+tax plus install
If we get 11 buyers I am willing to knock the install cost to $45 per unit. This price will never be this low again so I would take advantage of this if you can afford it. This product is very new and will be for the time being a TC's performance exclusive. Once installed it needs to be programmed using special software that I have to fork out the cash for. But to me it is worth it just to be able to offer this great product.
