I'm looking for the following Chiefs.. they don't need to be existing chiefs, anybody wanting to fill these, please reply, I get to choose who though gets to fill each role. For the tour and pro *can* be different chiefs, though your welcome to take both if you want to do both. The pro doesn't require the same chiefs as the tour, so there are some minor differences.

Please reply if your interested, let me know which chief role.

National Tour (July 14-16)

Worker Chief: (NEIL RICKLI) This person makes all worker assignments (mostly corner assignments). You'll have help, but you assign all workers and then you make sure that all work assignments are being filled.

Operating Steward: (ARNIE COLEMAN) Be on-site all 3 days. The person who makes sure everything is running ok, from is there toilet paper in the porta-johns to are cars starting on-time, and is everything going good. (kind of what I do for each event). The OS works with the event chair to make sure the event is going good.. kind of like a 2nd event chair.

Timing and Scoring: (JAMIE YOST) Pretty much make sure T&S runs ok. You'll get a chance to learn the national software, and you should have a lot of T&S experience. You'll help find workers for T&S.

Tech: (TOM HUNSINGER) You'll find Tech workers, and make sure cars are tech'd from FRIDAY during the day, and Saturday AM. Tech is one time, during certain times... not through-out the day the whole weekend.

Impound: (GRANT BARCLAY) You'll run impound, though you'll have impound workers assigned to help you. Impound chief should understand the rules associated with protests, and be confortable weighing cars.

Grid: ( YOUR NAME HERE ) You'll setup grid, and make sure that grid workers know what they are doing. You're also responsible to see that grid is cleaned up too after the event.

Registration: (MIKE MINEAR) You'll find in advance registration workers (for the gate, and truck). You'll help to make sure registration on site flows well.]

Welcome/Social: (MARK SMITH) You'll make sure the welcome party on Friday happends, and help plan it. You'll also make sure the saturday night social happends and is fun.

Chief of Waivers: (KEN HAMMACK) You'd be the waiver police basically. I can give you the full list of action items.

Pro Solo (July 21-23)

Worker Chief: ( YOUR NAME HERE ) This person makes all worker assignments (mostly corner assignments). You'll have help, but you assign all workers and then you make sure that all work assignments are being filled.

Tech: (TOM HUNSINGER) (See above)

Impound: (GRANT BARCLAY) (See above)

Welcome/Social: Just friday night welcome party, you run it.

Chief of Waivers: (KEN HAMMACK) You'd be the waiver police basically. I can give you the full list of action items.

I'm still happy and motivated to volunteer as chief of entertainment for all of the parties.
Conveniently, I've just secured a sponsorship from Ska Brewing out of Durango and I should be able to provide as much free beer as we think may get drunk.
In thinking about this so far, I was tempted to have a local BBQ joint cater us. Should we do Mexican at one of the parties? What kind of budget will I have to work with. What suggestions are out there for a fun "party" on the Tour Saturday?

party guy,
Smark A Myth

(p.s. I PROMISE there won't be any loud banging dance beats . . . that is unless there is interest in such a thing. In which case, I am also the man to make that happen. ;) )

I'd be happy to volunteer for either or both Chief Tech positions as needed.

If nobody else is dying to take it, I'll be your Operating Steward again this year. (Yes, I SHOULD have my head examined, but I'm afraid of what they won't find!)

Is Bob T. gonna be Chief Steward again?? That's be good.

I'll do registration for the tour again this year. Since I'm a total novice at Pro's, I think I should just attend and learn.

Jeff,

I have previously spoken to Tom H about helping him with tech for both weekends. I should be able to get away from work easily enough to work both Fridays.

With our team having 4 drivers in Craig's STX/L2 mini and 2 drivers (possibly 3) in my Mini in GS/L1 I'd like to do my work assignments before the events.

If someone gives me a refresher on the impound rules, and tips on doing the chief's job, I could work impound if no one volunteers to fill that.

Ok grant, I'll put you on for that. Basically you just need to make sure cars are impounded after each heat, and that they are not released until the results are there.. you know. If there are any serious protests we get the chief steward involved.. this case that's Bob Tunnell.

Jeff - I can be the T&S Chief for the National Tour.

Jeff,

Since waivers falls under the chief of registration locally, I thought I was already covering that for the tour. If you want to split it, go ahead, but if not I'll cover it as part of registration. This is for the tour only. Since this will be my first Pro, I don't think I should hold a chief position.

National thinks it warrants a special title. Ken Hammack is going to do it.

OK, does this mean he also takes over staffing the gate Friday, and before the event on Saturday and Sunday? I guess if i'm not doing gate and waivers, what do I do? National takes care of all the registration paperworks. All I did was get 3 people to staff registration. If I'm still doing gate and those waivers, what will Ken do?

(EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS THEY TAKE CARE OF THE WORKERS AT THE GATE, UNLESS I'M TOLD OTHERWISE I'D LIKE THE REGISTRATION CHIEF TO GET THOSE WORKERS, KEN CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY WORKING OK THE DAY OF THE EVENT AND HAVE THE MATERIALS TO DO THE JOB)
