Hello all!

I'm finally getting back into autocross (been about 8 years). Last time I was racing, everything was basically done for me as i was using someone elses car...soo all i did was drive.

I've done some research on classifications and saw the confusing charts and can't seem to figure out where my car would stand. Here are some cliff notes on my car. It is not set up as an autocross car but am looking to just have some fun.

'94 mr2 turbo
- standard kyb shocks, eibach springs
- upgraded rotors/pads
- Toyo Z rated radials (235 rear, 215 front i believe) on fn01rc's
- Stock body and chassis
- Forged motor, ported heads, big turbo, big fuel, AEM ecu, nitrous (though obviously won't be used).

Basically just a clean stock looking car with basic suspension upgrades and a lot of motor/power upgrades.

I'm assuming this won't be too far out of the basic upgraded car class (forgot what it was called, street something..). I appreciate any and all comments!

-Mike

Mike-
I believe you're looking for Super Street Mod, formerly known as Street Mod 2.

Very nice car!

nitrous (though obviously won't be used).

Make sure you take out the bottle before you come to the event.

What's it make for power with a "big" turbo AND nitrous?

That's cool.

That's *exactly* like my MR2. I mean, except mine isn't a turbo. And it's red. Oh, and a little tatty. And a '91. But you know, they're *both* MR2s. In that regard they are exactly the same. I bet there are several parts on our cars that are interchangeable!

Very nice car, can't wait to see it out running!

You know what you might should do is take my *proven* autocross car for a while and I'll manage driving yours around. You know, just till you get back into the swing of things. What will I charge you for this? Nothing at all! Anything to help another MR2 guy.

By the way, I'm pretty sure Shaun is right. SSM for you. Sorry brotha'. My E Stock car is on a much kinder index. So, you let me know if you want to take me up on my offer.

Take care,

Ed

Just curious what I shuold classify it as. Thanks guys! I'm going to definitely get stomped out there, i'm a newbie when it comes to this. I'll have fun doing it though!

Mannix - sarcasm noted ;) It actually isn't that big of a turbo, but compared to the stock one, it's significantly larger. The motor should be making around 650 horsepower (crank not wheels) I'd say once done, but that's just a bench racer guess. I'm aiming for a 10 second street car that isn't toooo laggy and can still be somewhat fun around corners.

Dylans - Thanks for the heads up

superwhitegt4 - Thanks! You're on rmmoc correct?

Fast eddie - Are you part of rmmoc? Hopefully i'll see you at one of those gatherings as well as the autocross

Welcome back and welcome to SSM!

The engine mods put you in Super Street Modified (Formally SM2). Rule Book (http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/2009_Solo_Rules.pdf) starting on page 112. It is a farily open class that allows unlimited suspension and engine modifications.

I don't know the safety requirements for the nitrous bottle, but hopefully someone else will chime in. I know last event we had another SSM participant remove the bottle during competition.

The bottle will be removed and left at home prior to each event, so that shouldn't be an issue i wouldn't think. I'm going to TRY and make this next one, but i'll probably end up leaving for home for thanksgiving a bit earlier than usual.

I think i'm going to have to get a different helmet or use a donor. I've got my motorcycle helmet but I don't think it meets the current requirements. I suppose I'll find out!

I'm really excited about getting back into this, it's such a blast! Not to mention, it's basically a car show every time you go, lots of neat cars there :)
