I've never driven on a track, but I want to. Soon. Am I right that DEC 13th is a day I can start at Pikes Peak?
Anyway, I'm torn about my cars. I have 3 that I think I could potentially use.
1-01 Hyundai Tiburon 2.0- Cold air intake, 4-1 headers, custom 2.5in. exhaust, underdrive pulleys, kyb shocks/struts lowered about 1.5in., intake cam from 1.8 Tib, short throw shifter, lightweight flywheel, stg2 clutch, and sits on 16X7.5 wheels. My first tuner with no original intentions of tracking it. Not sure what class to call it....
2-05 RX-8- Bone Stock
3-07 VW GTI 4dr- Intake, 3in. downpipe, and stage 2 chip.
Being brand new at this, which one should I try to roll with and why? I don't mind making a few changes to any one of them, though I feel like I'm leaning towards the Tibby, as it's the easiest to drive, handles great and the least expensive to work on.
Thanks in advance!
Alex
Are you wanting to track your car? Or autocross?
If autocross, I say the bone stock RX-8.
Run with what you have now and you are automatically in a competitive BS stock indexed AT car.

Autocross for sure!
I figured that the RX-8 would be most peoples answer. I guess the main thing is whether or not the Tiburon is even legit as is. I'm unable to find much about things like lightweight flywheels or underdrive pulleys being legal, and what class I would then call it before even considering it an option.
Thanks for the reply! Any other opinions???
I am guessing your Tiburon is DSP or SM. I think you are beyond ST classes. And the GTI is also DSP I believe. You can play with boost in SP classes.

They're legal, it's just a matter of figureing out what class it's in. I *think* it's going to be the cam that will put you in some ubber mod class. The car won't be competative unless you build it to the class specs- which would mean a lot, lot, lot more work than you've done.
The RX-8 is a good choice because it's classed well. The're supposed to be very good B Stock cars. And the "AT index" Van is talking about is for Stock class legal cars running on street tires. Believe it or not, "Stock" classes can run R compound tires. So having a street tire class available gives street tire cars a chance to compete.
But really, it doesn't matter. Sign up, come on out and have fun!

Plan on wasting a lot of time and probably money on it. It's like potato chips. Can't eat just one. Or something like that. When I think of all the years that went by that I didn't do this I could kick myself. It's so much fun it's hard to believe it's legal.

I already spend a lot of time and definitely a lot of money on cars lol, so it's all good. I wouldn't call it a waste though.

Currently, this is correct, but the winter schedule will likely have events added, so check the schedule page regularly.
Welcome!
Another vote for the RX-8

If you want to run the Tib I say go for it!
I think the car will be classed in SM due to the intake camshaft.

the Tiburon could also run in SMF.
