There has been some traffic lately in the forums that's been a bit feistier than I'm used to seeing here. I recently had to lock a thread for the first time, and there's another one that's riding the line. It makes me a little sad, really. Flame wars and name-calling just don't really happen here. It's a pretty unique online community.

Anyway, I just wanted to be open with everybody about this stuff. I really *hate* to be Big Brother or "They" or "Them", but it's part of my job as Chief of Web. That doesn't mean that I'm the voice of RMSolo - I'm not. All it means is that I have to do my best according to my own judgment and the published guidelines for use to be sure that our online community is functioning as it should.

For the record, here's what will get a thread/post deleted or locked (There may be other things that come up, and I won't limit myself or RMSolo to only having the option in these cases, but here's the basics):
Spam
Obscenity (generally, as described by George Carlin :D)
Personal attacks or name-callingClearly, some of these criteria have some room for interpretation. Interpreting is my job here (along with several other moderators, but I consider the ultimate responsibility to be mine.)

If anyone should have issues with the way that I moderate the forums, I invite and encourage you to contact me directly. I'd prefer to keep these kind of conversations out of the public forums. Send me a PM or an email (hickman"at"rmsolo.org) I am always open to discuss it!

Thanks for your understanding.

This is the most authentic internet forum I’ve ever been a part of. Most everyone either in their “screen” name, or signature uses their full name. Many of us post phone numbers and email addy’s in our signature. There is simply NO place for any foolishness here. Moderator’s are always needed, and appreciated (thanks!), but for the most part I think anyone who browses around a few minutes recognizes people here stand behind who they are and what they say. That and the wealth of knowledge here on anything car/race related make these forums special! I encourage you to do whatever you think needs to be done to keep it this way.
