SCCA-CDR is slashing prices on entry fees to help you start racing with us at La Junta Raceway on the weekend of July 25-26!
For Solo drivers who want to do their first PDX or Club Time Trials, or Solo/Club Time Trials drivers who want to get their first SCCA drivers school (on the way to getting their novice club racing license), SCCA is offering you a helluva deal:
PDX entrants pay ONLY $65.
PDX/Club Time Trials combined entrants pay ONLY $150
And Club Racing Drivers School entrants pay ONLY $100.
That's a savings of more than 50% over any other SCCA school, and hundreds less than other drivers schools. But that’s not all:
Don’t have a race car with a safety cage? Continental Divide Region SCCA will rebate $200 of the cost of rental on select Spec RX-7 race cars back to the driver/renter! That’s right; SCCA-CDR has negotiated a $400 rental fee with select Spec RX-7 drivers, and will rebate $200 of that cost back to you, the qualified student.*
That puts you on the track for $300. You will have to get your SCCA drivers physical, Novice logbook and beg, borrow or steal safety gear (SFI rated drivers suit, Nomex socks, shoes, gloves and SA helmet); Refer to SCCA.org for the club racing physical exam and Novice rulebook forms, and download the SCCA General Competition Rulebook for the specs on safety gear. NOTE: Call NOW to get your physical and start the process! For help with licensing, contact

If you’ve always wanted to take it to the track, you’ll never have a better, more affordable opportunity! Contact Grant Barclay at 970-227-1311 or at gbarclay@aol.com or Clay Turner at 719-338-3434 or clay-turner@am.com for more details.
*Rebate offer good while the limited supply of Spec RX-7s last (we’ve secured over half a dozen cars to date and are searching for more, but hurry; your buddies are reading this, too). Rebate is only good for the SCCA driver’s school on July 25. All rental transactions are between car owners and renters; SCCA-CDR makes no assurances, and assumes no liability, for driver’s or renter’s actions. SCCA-CDR cautions that racing can be habit-forming.

A great opportunity!
I think LaJunta is a really fun track. You can see the whole thing from the bleachers ... it's a great place for your family and friends to watch.
Regarding the SCCA school;
- this is the link (http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=38)to the SCCA section with info on how to proceed
- there is also more information on the steps listed here (http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=43)
- you need to submit your application for a Novice permit (http://www.scca.com/documents/Club%20Forms/form-noviceapp.pdf)prior to attending the school. Part of the submittal includes a physical exam (normally a routine physical), and the SCCA has a special form (http://www.scca.com/documents/Club%20Forms/form-physicalexam.pdf)for your doctor to fill out.
- As Clay mentioned, you need to get proper safety gear and have a proper car.
These steps can take longer than you think, so get started now!
A typical school format goes something like this;
- Friday night is a classroom session.
Going over the General Competition Rules, especially on track protocol, flag meanings, start procedure, pit procedures, etc. Also some discussion of driving lines and technique and car prep.
- Saturday is track time.
Begins with a track drive/walk with the instructors.
Then a short classroom session.
Followed by an on-track warm-up session.
Then some on-track flag response drills (fun!)
Driver's meeting.
Another practice session.
A session with multiple rolling practice starts and a short practice race.
Finally, a real racing session!
It's a busy, fun-filled time. Come join us!

Noob question - reading all the links Paul posted I need to request an entry form - where is the link for that? Everything I've found for the La Junta race is general info but no phone #. Have I been looking in the wrong places? Or are you guys handling this special deal with entries?
thanks for the help Paul and Clay - guy has the email sent to him, and I have a physical scheduled. Now I just need to pay up and get my car ready!
any help would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to it!

Hi, Rob,
The supps have been submitted to National; they have to be approved before registration can open. There's a CDR membership meeting tonight; we should find out then when reg will be open on motorsportreg.com.
Thanks!

Not DLB?

Not DLB. SCCA-CDR has had trouble with DLB, especially in the ease of use of the interface. Motorsportreg.com seems far more customer-friendly, so we're giving it a try this season. Check it out.

Not DLB?
Yes, that is correct.
CDR is using motorsportreg.com.
(For club racing registration.)
The CDR BoD listened to the complaints about DLB.
Researched and evaluated alternatives.
And selected motorsportreg.com.
PLEASE let the CDR BoD know what you think of motorsportreg.com.
Good and bad.

Okay, I remember hearing about this now. TT went "in-house" (Thank you Kevin!) so we're not using either now.

This the same place that the Las Vegas Region uses. I went to an event out there a couple years ago so I'm all setup. It looks like the site has changed a little from what I remember but at least I've been there before so I'm a registered user already.
Thanks Clay & Lindsay

My safety gear showed up lastnight.
I've got a car lined-up (Thanks Pat!).
Physical is done.
Mug-shots taken.
Novice application & paperwork is in the mail.
I think I'm set!!! Now I'm just waiting for registration to open.
"Is it open yet?"

Mug-shots taken.
FYI to anyone else thinking to doing this, in the GCR it says you need to include 2 passport photos with your novice permit application (Yes, I'm actually reading the rule book!). It isn't mentioned in the instructions page of the app. itself. I called member services this morning and they confirmed that you do need to include 2 passport photos or 2 COLOR photocopies of you driver license with the novice permit app.
I just went to Kinko's and had mine taken (I needed to go there to ship a package out via FEDEX anyway).

I think "passport sized" photos will work .. so you could even print your own 2x2 pics out on a color printer and send them in.

Well, all the hoops I need to take care of are done - novice application is in the mail to SCCA, driver's suit has arrived.
Is there any word on who to contact regarding the La Junta event yet? Is a permit done so we can apply for entry? Thanks for all the help guys.

The supps have been submitted to National office for approval; as soon as we receive that, registration will open on Motorsportreg.com.
We'll send out an "all-skate" email and post to the webs. :)
