Bob Boileau took me on the first drive of his new road course today. We lapped the dirt track in his SUV, and here are the goodies:
1. It's 2.1 miles long, about 13 turns, with a lot of elevation change.
2. You can see at least 90% of the track from the paddock and concessions building, which are already built.
3. It's a fantastic combination of looping turns, fast straights and flat runoffs.
4. They have acres of paddock and grid planned.
5. You can see the entire track from atop the grandstand.
Bob and his crew have been planning the course for weeks, staking it out and radiussing the corners. The grader has the surface flat enough to run the entire course at about 50mph. There are a couple cutouts and options for more turns and shorter courses, but if they lay asphalt on what we drove, it's going to be a fabulous track.
