I had a good experience with Tint Tech in Golden. I set up an appointment and they did it while I watched and waited. Took about an hour.

Phone: 720.226.8906.
Email: Tint_Tech@hotmail.com

They use Suntek HP films and Richard will guarantee the tint and work for as long as you own the car.

I have used IDS a couple times with great results too. They do a lot of dealer work for high ends cars (Lambo, Ferrari...).

Give IDS a call, ask for Matt Swanson and mention my name (he's a cousin, by marriage).

IMHO they do excellent work -- Did a clear bra and window tint on my ///M Roadster.

+1 Jazz it up in centennial. great work but all I had done was a windshield strip, I dont know about whole car pricing.

Performance tint in boulder is quick/cheap. he did 3 windows for me and its going on 2 years without any noticeable color change. I think he uses economy tint brands though...

my experience is with 5% tint..

What are the laws in CO regarding tint? In MO we could do 35% on the driver/passenger windows, and 5% for everything behind them.

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN COLORADO?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Colorado, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield - Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows - Must allow more than 27% of light in.
Back Side Windows - Must allow more than 27% of light in.
Rear Window - Must allow more than 27% of light in.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN COLORADO?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side Windows - No metallic or mirrored appearance.
Back Side Windows - No metallic or mirrored appearance.

OTHER COLORADO RULES AND REGULATIONS
Restricted Colors - The tint color(s) of RED AMBER are not legal by state law.
Side Mirrors - Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate Requirements - Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker Requirements - State law recommends but does not require stickers to identify legal tinting.

The colorado statute number is 42-4-337 if anyone is interested.

Basically, the windshield as a whole has to allow 70% transmittance. The sides and rear must allow 27% transmittance. If you don't tint the windshield, you can stripe the top at 27% for 4 inches from the top of the windshield.

Random curiosity. I've thought about tinting the van windows. Do I have to abide by the light transmission rules, or can I black them out?

IE, the van (big Ford 12 passenger) is available with and without windows - so, in my mind, what's the difference?

Dunno. If I do tint them, it'll likely be legal tint, but more curious than anything.

See, I could have sworn that the law used to be 27% around OR 5% rear, 100% front. However I looked up the CRS and I didn't see it in there.

Right - my question is kinda van-specific; the SAME chassis is available
without windows; therefore, in my mind, I could black the windows out
completely.

Dunno. Certainly not planning on it, just more of a "what if?"

This is my understanding as well - that you could go as dark as you want for the back windows of your vehicle, as long as your two front side windows were untinted (i.e., 100% light transmission).

This website for a Boulder-based tint/detail shop sorta reinforces this idea:

http://www.detailsplusauto.com/index-2.html

I believe the "friendly roadside CSP representative" that ticketed me for illegal tint on my Accord wagon less than a year ago stated something to this effect too - I wasn't listening that carefully; I was on-tilt about getting pulled over/receiving a total B.S. window tint citation as a result of doing my civic duty to high-beam oncoming traffic about a speed trap.
