Were you able to setup a TT date at Miller yet? The track is now "open" but they are still putting finishing touches on it.
We're going out again next week to check on the progress of the track and the facilites. I'm planning on taking some in car video (from the rental car?) and then I'll get it posted so everybody can see what a cool track this is. It shouldn't take too much selling.... there's time trial participants registered and coming from Seattle, LA. Heck there's cars (but not TT:mad:) coming from as far as North Carolina and St. Louis!!!
Make the gamble and get a TT event at Miller on the calandar, it WILL be worth the drive.

I don't doubt that the track will be a hoot to drive. But the cost issue is one that we can't ignore. $30k+ per weekend is an incredibly large amount of money, and tends to require a lot of advance planning and investment.
I wouldn't say that we would completely rule out MMP altogether, but we are not currently anticipating anything there this year due to the high rental fees for the track.

I'm headed out there 5/20-21 for a NASA event. Looking forward to running on the new track. They will be using the entire course! I'll submit my observations when I get back.

Lee,
Here is a preview of what you'll be driving!!!! :D

If you're having trouble playing it, just right click and 'Save Target As' to your computer.
Come on guys.... use it or lose it! SCCA just cancelled their April 29-30 event there (which I assume was due to lack of entries:(). We've got a fantastic new track in the division, let's take advantage of it. The same will apply to the brand new pavement in Hastings NE!!

The NASA event is $175 for one day, $299 for 2 days of HPDE or TT.

Nice lookin' track. But where's the elevation? 4.5 miles, and at the foot of the Wasatch range, and that track was flatter than.... well, let's just say it seemed pretty darned flat. What a shame. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be a hoot and a half to drive...

Even after looking at it a few times (looks like fun), I can't see the nearly 96' elevation numbers that are on the website. Must be a really slight grade.
Maybe it's just hard to tell in the video...

I don't get those "96ft/42ft elevation & 124ft/93ft elevation" notes.
Road America is about the same length. The elevation changes there are in the 50'-70' range. The hills there seem very big. The hill up from turn 14 to the start stand is huge. The hill down from turn 6 to turn 8 is also big and long. And finally the hill up from Canada corner to 13A is also pretty steep.
After seeing those hills and seeing the video of MMP I'd have to say the elevation changes at MMP couldn't be any more than 30'-35' at the most.

96'? I think that elevation numbers must be across the whole 4.5 miles or from one side of the track to the other? :D
The elevation changes are greater than 2nd creek, but less than Publeo, but certainly greater than LaJunta!!! I *think* the biggest drop is about 12-15' through the T16 - T18 complex.

MMP has a very nice web site ... and lots of great photos.
From their web site (http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/index.cfm);
While the track is basically flat, Miller Motorsports Park 's designers have incorporated several significant elevation changes in order to add character, challenge, and unparalleled sightlines for spectators.

Wow..... this past weekend was something else. We had about 22 people compete in Time Trials. Not a bad showing out of the 230 or so entries we had for the weekend (racing, tt and hpde). I'm happy to say that Time Trials are NOT dead in the RM region.:)
Here's some comments from some of the participants....

This track is an exciting place and should be on the list to do once a year.

Hi all,
I'm the R.E. out here in Utah and I am trying to gauge interest in a PDX/TT weekend If we can get 50 entrants we can make it ~$160-175 a day. If we get more people interested the cost can easily drop. Please check the utahscca.com forums for more discussion and add your 2¢ as well. We have an oppurtunity for a weekend in July (overlaps the Denver Pro Solo though) a weekend in August and one in September.
So please if the interest is there we can make something happen.
Thanks,
-Jon Lee
