X class idea for the 2 day events

we have (2) 2 day events in a row just before the Denver Tour

what would you guys (and girls) think about running them as a tour type event?? to get into the mindset of national events

if you are running X your index points will still hold for the events that way you have your 7 out of 12 events or 12 of 12 if your a die hard

but the 2 events get added together for class points so your best from day 1 and your best of day 2 make your class points

i have a more complete idea in my head but this is just a feeler

I hope that the auto-x chiefs DO NOT accept such a proposal.

This would be a change to the season format only weeks before the season is due to start. It would be a major inconvenience to anyone who was planning on attending only seven events, and would now have to scramble and attend two more to qualify for season points trophies.

It also removes two oppurtunitites for scoring well (or badly). Take a look at last years overall results, and note how many drivers attended more than just the minimum needed. Unless your name is Fauth, Wentzel, or Tunnell you need as many chances at scoring well as possible. A high scoring event means you can drop an event which you did not do well at.

Bad idea, we need more events to score points at, not less.

maybe I just don't understand what mindset you need for national events :D

you would still have all class events counted for the season points it would be more for trophies spots instead of trophies saturday it trophies sunday for the 2 days added together or even something different like a T shirt that says i won X class and all i got was a tshirt:p and it was just a thought.

as far as the nationals mindset being able to "throw down" both days im just thinking out loud

there wouldnt be a need for more trophies it would be the same as a regular event

and i might be willing to buy the Tshirts or other novelty item

the idea is in addition to whats already in place FWIW id even do the math

so the class would remain the same, the event points would remain the same, the season points would remain the same i just thought that we had a few 2 day events we could use them for practice

The memorial weekend event has always been a combined times for both days, like nationals. Normally, this weekend is our division in which we follow the nationals rule set. I think one weekend, were its combined, is enough. Not including the Tour.

The only time i remember combining 2 days for scoring is for divisionals. Even then it was only for divisional results, we still split out each day for local points.
