Well this weekend will be my first AX. I am building a track Miata and would like to shake it down somewhere without getting arrested! an Auto-X should be just the ticket. Other than reading everything on this site, what else do I need to do?
As for classing, my car is about 80% SpecMiata, still licensed, gutted interior, Alum seat, welded roll bar, SpecMiata suspension. I read elsewhere on this forum that it should be DSP, is that correct? I will be running street tires, not R's. Is there another class that I should or could look at? My main objective is to get the car out & drive it.
Thanks,

I believe that with the gutted interior you should be in a prepared class, not to be confused with a "Street Prepared" class. Anyone else with ideas?

A car built to spec miata rules is indeed DSP. It looks like you have three other novices signed up right now, at least two of them on street tires.
I wouldn't get too concerned about classing etc for a winter event. Just come out and have fun.

That's what I thought, but you have to select a class to get a number.
Fun it will be!

I have met confusion before, so no introduction was necessary. :D
As we all know , miata's are special. I was amazed the first time I saw a spec miata run in DSP so I went and looked it up. That's the only reason I know it.
Cars eligible for the current Spec Miata rules are permitted to compete in class D Street Prepared, with the additional allowance that they may use any size of any tire which meets the requirements of 15.3 and fits on the Spec Miata allowed wheels and within the allowed bodywork. Spec Miata cars in DSP may not intermix use of the Spec Miata and Street Prepared allowances. The competitor is
responsible for being in possession of the Spec Miata rules and for proving that his/her car conforms to the rules.
