Who's driving a different car in 2006?
I'll start. Me.. From the Z06 to an 06 Elise.
Dan and I.
From a Supercharged Ford Focus in Street Mod to a 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S in STX.
Van
Unless I change my mind (again), I'll be racing a WRX in STX next year.

From 03 Vibe GT (GS/BT for winter 05 - ungodly slow - I'm not surprised it got bumped to HS for '06) to an '85 MR2 (ES/BT for now...perhaps CSP eventually...)

I'm changing from being a total car slut to having a car again, yay! I bought jason miller's talon and I'll be driving that in STX. not so sure if the reign of terror will continue though :)

While technically it will be the same car, my Z is undergoing some major surgery relocating the engine 22" further back and in the passenger seat area. Throw in some rear suspension changes, an LSD and this new weight distribution and it will indeed be a different car.

If the 911 ever gets off blocks, I SHOULD be in either SM2 or ASP next year.. I still pondering the classing.

New for the season? Or new entirely? If all goes well, I'll be driving my 914 in DSP for at least a few events. I'd say it's new, seeing as it's been a jack stand warmer for the last 4 years...:)
-Josh2
Even though I raced it once in '05, I'll be racing my '89 BMW 325is in STX this year while it undergoes various states of preparedness.

I'm probably going to be back in the Boxster in ASP for '06. However, I would really like to work out tire warming role in a competitive car for Topeka - anyone looking for a Nationals tire warmer/co-driver?

Hey, you said you'd bring the M3 out and play with us in SM!

...and changed my mind ;)
I was all set to prepare the BMW for SM, then I remembered the mantra I tought myself when I bought the car. "the M3 is my daily driver... the M3 is my daily driver..."
I also need to relearn how to autocross the Boxster. I'm heading to Porsche Parade in Portland Oregon later in the year and to place well in the autocross, I'm going to have to be on top of my game. It takes a very different style to get the Boxster around an Ax fast compared to the M3.

:D nice pics!
Van - so what prompted the change in vehicles? I know Jeff's a car 'ho, Graeme needs to keep his M3 street legal, Josh figured he had too much time on his hands with a new baby, so he'd get off his butt and finish the 914... and Dylan decided he'd buy the class beater!! ; )
We were both not wanting to autocross the daily drivers anymore.
Figured RWD is where it's at! :p Wanted something cheap and light and different. Hence, the Corolla.
BTW, we were hoping to get number 86 STX. Hint hint. ;)

There's a couple of Bimmer guys in STX who also think that RWD is where it's at... I'm still worried about that AWD red Talon!!

I'm worried about all sorts of stuff.
Although Roger, I think you should be re-classing yourself to a baby carriage this year in H stock.. (that's where the not otherwise classified vehicles go)
Mark my words... 2 races, that's all you'll be able to handle next season.

Mike Minear --- since your username is 00SS, can we assume you're driving a new car in 2006? Do fill us in! And, welcome to SS!

No new car. 00 SS = 2000 Camaro SS. Same car as I've been driving. I have been kicking around the idea of a Soltice in CS but I doubt it will actually happen. I'm not even sure I fit in one.
I was even thinking that if I didn't like it for CS I could drop an LS2 (or even an LS7) in it and run SM2. That would be a real screamer.

You need to run SM again, since Graeme chickened out and Doug is co-driving the Feldpuschmobilevettemonster. No FS/P for you!

What's the matter, you affraid there will be nobody left in SM to play with? As it is the M3's may be out numbered by the F-bodies this year if Doug is bailing out. (I hadn't heard that yet) It looks like there will be at least 3 Camaros/Firebirds competing this season.

I was disappointed with our shrinking numbers in SM as the season progressed. Sorry to see Doug, Van, and Dan switching classes. I think Jason and Levi will still be around, as well as some of the other usual suspects.
Was hoping Hsun and Tony would make it out to play, but it looks like they'll be sticking with their SM2 cars.
Failed at getting Van and Dan prep the 8-6 for SM

I think STS will be a fun group this year. SM, STX and STS are usually the biggest run groups other than X this year coming up. Talking about racing makes me want to start the season now!

Hey Mike,
you would be better with an LS2 for several reasons. 1) Same heads as you got now 2) will probably bolt in better 3) You can get almost as much HP out of the LS2 ..as the LS7 puts out. And whats power if you can't put it down! :)
If you go the LS2 route, the SLP 402 block has proved to be a nice motor. Gary Thomason (top pax time at nationals 06) has one and he's enjoying it. Tiz the reason why I went that route. I just need the additional mods and non-issues to even keep up with gary.

Yeah I know. Plus the LS2 is MUCH cheaper. Can you imagine that car though? 2800 pounds (or less if I get a new sawsall blade), 400 - 500 hp and smaller than a Vette! Plus, with a little more help from the sawsall, 335's might fit. If you can't imagine it, check this out.

I'll be running my little 65 Sunbeam Tiger in SM2. When the engine was dyno'd she put out 415 HP and 450 ft-lbs of torque at the crank (that was not at altitude). It should be a truly terrifying car to drive. I just hope it doesn't snap in half :p

Holy crap! in a Sunbeam? THAT certainly is not my grandfather's Sunbeam. (He used to autocross a Rapier back in the 60's)
I can't wait to see that.

>Minear, Can you imagine that car though?
Its sick, Jake and I were talking about it. I wouldn't be suprised to see one show at Nationals this year. With the LS2 package(with a 500hp) motor is $35k plus the car which is probably $35k as well. So Bling Bling.. $70k car. Is it REALLY worth it? :) For $70k I could get a used ferrari (which is a lifetime goal for me) :D

The base Soltice is about 20K and I'd be doing most of the conversion myself. So I figure it could be done for a total of about 35-40K.

Here is a shot of the engine. It took a lot of vaseline to get it in there. I hope the attachment gets through.

Well, I may be...sort of. I'm hoping to get my GRM 2006 Challenge RatRabbit out on the course a couple of times for testing before the event in October. Otherwise, I have a lot of changes happening to the GTI that will help me be more competitive this season, I hope:D.

Me!
The Z4 is going off-lease in Feb :(
It's probably going to be a month or maybe two before Winslow even gets an allocation for the new Z4 based M Roadster:mad:
It'll probably be another 4-6 weeks after that to get a delivery
But someday . . . :p
