Save the Date! The RMSolo Awards Banquet will be held in conjunction with the Divisional Convention again this year at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Colorado Springs on Jan 10, with a Solo event at PPIR to follow on Jan 11.

There is plenty of Solo content planned at the Convention again this year, with seminars on Course Design, Timing & Scoring, and Safety Steward Training just for starters. Look for more Solo activities to be announced soon.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel is the host hotel for the Convention and the Banquet. The Crowne Plaza is conveniently located at the I-25 and Circle Drive (the exit for the World Arena).

The Crowne Plaza has just completed an multi-million dollar renovation and has beautiful, all-new meeting rooms, banquet facilities and guest rooms. We'll be able to post a discounted room rate for Convention and Banquet attendees as soon as we sign the contract this week.

See you in January!

Bummer... I liked it ALOT more when we had our banquets on our own... I.E. at 3R Racing. That was fun! Maybe next year!?!

What time?
Anyone want to split a room either by WA or (cheaper) the Super 8 in Fountain?

The Super 8 right next to the Crown Plaza is cheaper than the Super 8 in Fountain, just don't make the horrible mistake and stay in the Days Inn. Makes no sense, the Super 8 is the north end of the same building that the Days Inn is the South End, at night they share the same registration desk, but the Days Inn was a huge dump the two times I tried it. That particular Super 8 was probably the worst of many Super 8s in which I have stayed, but it was still miles ahead of the Days Inn...

any update on the time for the banquet and the general schedule? I have a conflict, and am trying to see if they can coexist

Thanks, I saw it when I printed out the reg form. Looks like a neat program! I cancelled on the other event... ;)

Are we going to have registration online rmsolo.org or simply fill out the form (http://www.coloradoscca.org/posts/2009RMDConventionRegistration.pdf) and send it in?

Any idea if there are any Solo2 events happening prior to the awards banquet?

It might be nice to register online for a head count...

Ron,

After a lot of discussion, mailing in the form with a check was the only way that works for us.

Unlike a solo event, we need prepaid commitments so we know how many lunches and dinners to prepare. If we did online registration and pay-at-the-door, the no-shows would cause us to waste money on food.

I don't know of any solo events before the banquet, but there is an RMSolo winter event the next day, Sunday, Jan, 11, at PPIR.

Thanks!

Thanks Clay!

I guess what I meant to say as part of the activities on the 10th, are there any Solo2 specific "Presentations, meetings and training from 9am - 3pm" that our members and I should be aware of?

I know its a mixed bunch of club racers and such, but I am just wondering if we have stuff going on too?

Ron,

Yes, there will be plenty of solo content at the convention. Here's what's planned to date:

Timing and Scoring sessions
Solo Safety sessions
Course Design sessions (new!)
Solo Performance session
Solo Town Hall

Question:

The e-mail that went out seems to indicate that all attendees must be SCCA members.

Does this mean that if I want to bring a wife/girlfriend/mistress/escort/farm animal, that she too must be an SCCA member, or do one of the "weekend membership" doohickeys?

Jake,

Weekend memberships are necessary for the convention, but not for the awards banquet Sat evening.

Farm animals are free, as long as you clean up after them. Mistresses get in free, but are not free in the long run. Wives are not interested in coming. Girlfriends pay full fare.

Bummer, I'm working on the 10th.......

Farm animal.

Late pickups (post 2005) are not members unless they have a roll bar.
