It's 100% true. The office has been working very hard to secure this site for the past few months. I know Howard has been to the new site several times and in his words, it is "the best surface in the country".

For a hundred different reasons, this is a GREAT opportunity for the club. Lets all make sure that RMSolo supports the efforts.

Looks like a big site (Lincoln Park). Many seem to be complaining about the surface and how bad the tire wear on it...

Yes, that's a photo of the site.
Don't know exactly where the course / grid / paddock / Solo City will be located. Got 10 months or so to work out those details. ;)

Good thing (IMO) is that with all the room the schedule can revert to the pre HPT format. PRO Solo and warm up events on Sat./Sun., Mon. set-up/walk course, Nationals Tue./Wed. - Thur./Fri.

IMHO: Fun = Grippy surface = tire wear.

In my 14 years of autocrossing, no new site has ever gone without somebody complaining about something. However, I'll take tire wear issues over HPT issues any day. I only plan to run two or three events per year there anyhow.

This is great news for our region.

The location is just north of Interstate 80, just west of the Lincoln Airport. I drive by it everytime I head back to Iowa to visit family.

The site is absolutely huge; the pictures don't really do it justice.

Just for reference - I *think* the scale should be pretty close (but it's not exact.) If there's a Google Earth expert out there who thinks I've got it all wrong, i'd be happy to capitulate. Both are views from 12200' - 12300'.

Per the measurement tool in GE, the Lincoln Air Park is ~6,500' north to south. PPIR, measured from the entrance to paddock to the exit from the course area on the south end (longest distance at PPIR, more or less) is ~1,250'

Guessing some of the concrete at Lincoln would be needed for paddock/grid, but if even half of that concrete is available for courses, you could still put PPIR (or Heartland Park) in it and rattle them.

If you're looking to book reservations way ahead,
go to Travelodge.com directly, Senior :D rate is $44/night for two in the room.
Best available is $48 for two. Not sure on SCCA rate. They have
a two week in advance of room reservation for cancellation. It is a one star
hotel.
This is the best I found and because I believe the entrance to the
course will be on the West side of the airport, it looks to be the closest
to the site. Don't hold me to this.

Camping is close at
http://campaway.com/directions.php
on the East side.
