Just heard from Randy Hickman. He will not be able to participate in the Street Survival school, so there are now four vacancies for coaches.

Please consider making this a "Vail Valley Weekend" by attending Winter Event #1 and helping with Street Survival (you can still get a room for Friday nite at the Inn and Suites at Riverwalk for $95!).

If you've not coached before, you can get trained Saturday nite during a free dinner after the autocross.

There is room ( and free rooms at the Inn at Riverwalk in Edwards) for two more Street Survival Coaches.

There will be a training session and FREE dinner Saturday nite for new coaches.

You do not need to be an expert autocrosser to be able to coach. Concepts we teach and practice include, contact patch, traction budget, weight transfer, reaction time.

Post here ASAP if you want to have a good time and help keep teenage drivers alive.

Many thanks to all who volunteered!!!

We may elect to lay out the exercises Saturday afternoon after the Solo event, depending on the hour and the weather.

Coaches classroom training will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday night in Fiesta’s Restaurant in Edwards. Dinner will be provided.

Coaches show time no later than 0730 AM at the airport.

Tech will be from 8:00 to 8:45. Tech must be done by 8:45!!!

During the first student's classroom session, coaches will set up exercises if need be, then do in-car training of new coaches. There are two or three new Eagle County coaches, but I'm sure the rest of them will want/need some refresher training.

Bring air if you have some.

The event will go on, rain or shine!!!

Just checking in, I made it home OK. How'd everyone else do? Quite a difference from West Slope to Front Range as far as the weather goes aye? It was just starting to come down as snow as turned into my drive-way... perfect timing!!!

It sure was a great school and I know all of the group-2 students seems to enjoy themselves and learned a lot in the process. I'm looking foreword to the next one. Is it just me, or did some of them seem like they were very, VERY young? [I must turning into an old fart :)]

Edit: I almost forgot... Thank you Linda Duncan for buying the adult beverages Saturday night.

Just got home. Fog, mist & light rain all the way from east of Georgetown to I-470 and I-25, then mostly dry all the way down to the Springs. Not too bad, all things considered.

I agree, a couple of the kids did look really young! Must be a gene thing. Even so this group seemed to be more interested in learning and doing than other groups we've taught.

Nicely done, to everyone!!!

Weather going up, early Saturday morning, was terrible until about Floyd Hill, past Evergreen, and then dry the rest of the way.

Fabulous weather for the event on Saturday. The event was tons of fun with 8 runs. The airport personnel were a hoot -- really loving all the rides they got. What a blast.

Street Survival was really rewarding, as they all are, with a great bunch of kids (students) and parents (coaches). The personnel at the airport were really into helping, especially the fire guys. They brought out the airport's emergency fire trucks and put water and foam down on the skidpad.

I will say that it was really winter, setting up the SS exercises, but as the day went on, the weather really cooperated with a beautiful day; a bit windy, but glorious.

The drive back was uneventful until about Floyd Hill (again) and a bit slow and wet back to Littleton.

In all, a great, great weekend.

Hey, getting to autocross and help kids -- what more can one ask for.
