View Full Version : I think I need a number for SM, but can't find one

The list shows some numbers are still available, but I try them and it says they're taken.

A part of my car is broken and there's a good chance I won't get it back in time for this weekend. I'm signed up for STX currently and would like to stay registered there just in case. But I'd like to register in street mod as well.

Or should I just have someone change it if needed on race day. It'd likely be for next weekend only and I wouldn't expect to be very competitive in street mod with my worn street rubber and "somewhat" low horsepower numbers.

woop! found a number (59) but I guess I can't register twice unless I sign up for a new acct. Would it be a big deal to change the class at walk in registration?

I probably won't know what class i'd be until Sat.

It's just practice, don't sweat the classing. Run what you brung and don't cause work for yourself or the regsitration folks.

Drew,
Just unregister first, then you can register in the class you want. You can use the same account. Create another car registry entry for the car you are running on Sunday, then register it.

Why would you have to go to SM?

I thought they dropped the boost rule for this year in ST because it was impossible to police?

you might want to check the latest rulebook drew, you might be able to run stage 2 all the time.
(not that you need it with that new running gear)

They're allowing extra boost in SP now, not ST. Sorry Drew. It's still just a winter event, I don't mind if you run xtra boost...unless you beat me...;)

well we'll see. I should have it back in time. And if I were to beat you, I couldn't accept the win.

but my alignment was taken out when I took the car to the dealer so I will have a handicap no matter what.

Yes -- see the latest FastTrack.

This will have big implications in SM and xSP. The E36 M3's are finally dead in those classes (SM, BSP).

Well, except for the BimmerHaus BSP car. Still, I think Bob and Mitch will have a strong challenge on their hands if the STi's and Evo's find their way from ESP to BSP before Nats.

Wasn't boost unlimited in SM already though? I'm not sure I understand how this would affect SM?

ok, I'm definitely missing something. I've read both April and March Fastracks three times now. I still don't see where they are allowing >stock boost for STX...I believe you Dave, but I must have some big time Friday ADD going on, because I'm just not seeing it.

It doesn't apply to ST classes. Just street prepared. That is why you can't find it.

it's ok dylan. we know you can drive (at least) :D

I think a 20psi STI could do pretty well in street prep...

Boost is unlimited in SM. The restriction with forced-induction is that the motor needs to be 3.0 litres and below to stay in SM. If you are over 3.0, then you are bumped to SM2. If you are over a 5.5 litres with forced induction, then you get booted from SM2.

The allowing boost control in SP is kool, but it screws the normally aspirated guys. I think that if Boost control is allowed, then cams are as well.

is an engine swap legal in street mod or is that supposed to be prepared?

As long as it's the same manufacturer, it's legal in SM.

good to know...

well now i'm not so sure I'll get the part back tomorrow. It was in SLC at 12 am this morning and was shipped UPS 2nd day, but the invoice shows delivery for the 27th. I hope that's wrong.

Street Mod you can put in anything that is made by the manufacturer of the car. Ex: Putting and M3 engine in a 318ti for instance :-)

Street Prepared you can update/backdate within the same model line. Ex: putting a 3.2L '99 M3 engine in a '95 M3 (3.0L).
