Anybody on this list know about Toyota ABS systems?
I have a 2006 Scion tC. It's the first car I've had with ABS. Now I've already tested the ABS in the last snow, so I know what the full ABS effect is like. Well this morning it did something different. I was going slow, maybe 10mph. When I applied the brakes a little the peddle start pulsing about once a second. If I hit the brakes harder it would go into full ABS mode. If I let off the brakes a little from full ABS mode it would resume the slow pulsing.
I've never heard of a ABS system that would vary the cycle and intensity of the ABS.

a friend of mine remembers something like that with his scion (he sold it) something along the lines of the traction control and the ABS working together. not sure how true it is i cant dive my overpriced toyota in the snow. for that matter i wouldnt have made it to the first speed bump this morning. lucky for me, the wife and I work at the same place.:D

The tC doesn't have traction control. Just ABS and electronic brake balance.

There is an "ice mode" that I've encountered when autocrossing the Celica. It seemed to be a slower pulsing rate than other times when I've been into the ABS.
This is a 2000 GTS.

Under hard braking, the system uses sensors and the ABS motor to adjust the brake balance both front to back and side to side. So if trail braking into a corner, the loaded outside front tire will get more braking force than the unloaded inside rear tire. Scion calls it "Electronic Brake Force Distribution".
I'm not sure if it's something I will be able to feel. I should find out at the next event.

Just disconnect the system. You don't need it any way. They're only good for large vehicles like trucks or SUV's. Only 1 of our 12 vehicles still have active ABS in them.

Maybe that's what it was. I just wasn't expecting a slow pulse like that.

It's been about 2 years for me in Solo. I forgot about all the class rules you guys have.
