I apologize for any incovenience that this may cause drivers, entrants or workers. I applaud our SCCA stewards and safety personnel for upholding the high standards that the SCCA has established over the last 53(ish) years, and refusing to compromise those standards.
Eventually the specifics of the decision will be released, and I ask our competitors not to speculate what those reasons are until you know the whole story. There was a very concerted and determined effort to make this event happen, and the decision to cancel was not taken lightly. I am glad that the CO SCCA BOD made this difficult decision.

How great is it going to be when we finally have HPR?

Is there any chance of getting an event at Pueblo in September ?

Not really. Every weekend is already booked. Finding free weekends at PMP late in the season are like finding that magical/mythical 2 second cone at Nationals... It ain't gonna happen.
We'll be back in business for our season finale at PMP in October. It'll be a great weekend, topped off with a 4 hour enduro road race staring a number of own folks trying to get a taste of Le Mans in our own backyard...

Yes, you read it right: the final TT is going to be a four hour race session. Surprise! Make sure you bring some extra gas and a pit crew. This one is for Jeff "Faster in the Dark" Burch. :p ;)

No kidding? Will this still be in the TT vein (as in fastest lap during the session) or will it be who can last the entire session and end up in front (or both)?
You guy's realize that I haven't had to stop to cool my engine, tires or brakes during a session yet all season right? (Honda POS!)
Hummmm, I need to find a pit crew I guess!

No kidding?
Actually? Yeah...
It's a road race enduro, not TT. It'll be all fendered cars (from IT to CSR) running a 4 hour endurance race to close out the season on Sunday...
But there will no doubt be some folks looking for crew members...

I'm confused (Not hard to do). So it's not open to TT drivers & cars, it's an enduro that the Club Racers will be running?
Will there be a TT on Sunday that weekend?

While disappointing, I'm glad that ya'll made the right decision.
Thanks for keeping it safe!
John.
PS - Does this affect the Season Finale? Don't you love how I drop these bombs in there?

My attempt a sarcasm has failed (succeeded?).
The enduro is for the road racers, NOT the time trialers.
The TT event is currently scheduled for TWO days, 10/18-19, according to the schedule. I'm not sure how we fit in if there is a 4 hour race on Sunday.

No PDX and we run first group in each session rather that last group on Sunday(?).

to address some of the questions
Garrett - no chance of a Pueblo event
John - yup, safety is always our highest priority. Driving on a track is dangerous (though not nearly as bad as driving on I-25) and we have an obligation to all of our drivers to offer them as safe as venue as possible. I am glad to have Josh and David to remind me of those safety issues, and glad to have experienced road race stewards to make the difficult safety decisions and conduct the track reviews. If we can model a lot of the CTT practices on the strict standards of the SCCA road racers, I think we will go a long way toward offering as safe an event as possible
Knuckles - we probably need a sarcasm icon. The final weekend schedule will look approx like
Fri evening - PDX classroom, tech, and CTT registration
Sat - PDX 8am to 8:30am (final PDX of the year)
3 CTT sessions, practice, qualy, competition session
Sun
no PDX, 2 CTT sessions in the morning, practice and competition (grid will be set from Sat comp session results)
Final details of the "competition" sessions and various awards will be handed to you at registration. The season champion will be decided during the very final session of the year, and anyone will be able to win (it won't matter if you are in the fastest or slowest car).
The big reason for the secrecy surrounding the way we determine the season champion has been to prevent drivers sandbagging during the season. I think everyone will really enjoy driving their cars and trying to win the season championship.
The tradition of really silly awards will also continue, and we will be able to hold our awards ceremony at the track because the enduro will only start after lunch.
The enduro is a 4 hr race open to closed wheel cars, and licenced SCCA drivers. It will be a lot of fun to watch. I am sure the Time Trialers would be very welcome to work (if they want to get closer to the action) either as crew for the various teams, or as corner workers (the best place to watch the racing). it will make a great ending to our season.
Look for details soon.

Grant,
I was more concerned about the 'Pre-event qualification' statement on the schedule. PPIR / HPR was going to be my second event... was hoping that having only 1 event this season would not exclude me, but understand if it does.
Gracias.

John has to be permitted to particiapte, as he's the source of the best video I've collected all season. :D

Thanks David! I've got new tires now... so you'll probably have to wait about 10 minutes into the session (vs. 5) for me to provide video worthy asstastic stunts ;)

I'm pretty sure it was just one event to qualify for the final event.

nope, a single event is all the qualification you need. you are good to go.
