"Light" reading on how bad of a job the Pueblo city council is doing.

So, what exactly are the benefits of giving FRM the track instead of keeping PMI running it?

That's what we hope to learn at the meetings.

Hello All,
Pueblo's Road Race future may be in serious jeopardy. Please take ten minutes to send an email and speak up in favor of the road racing track.
I ask you all to write a short, positive, polite message to the City Council asking them to keep the Road Race track and giving good reasons why. It may help to appeal to what they care about. Please be respectful!
I'm attaching my letter below in case you find it useful. I emphasized the revenue for the city taxes and businesses that would go away if the track closes. There are many other issues, of course.
Some of the people to send it to are listed below. All emails were publicly available.
Note - I am strictly a Pueblo track user trying to race. I do not represent any organization, although I belong to several.
Pass this on!
Thank you,
Geremy

Dear Pueblo City Council,
I'm writing in support of the Road Racing course at Pueblo Motorsports Park and implore you to ensure this facility remains open, accessible, and in top condition. Many, many constituents rely on it.
The Pueblo facility hosts more than three dozen Road Racing events during the year. It is the finest Colorado facility in operation - track rental generates a solid revenue stream, and our economic impact on the city is significant.
Pueblo gains substantial economic benefit from all the road race attendees. Typically, we spend two to four nights in hotels, eat out at restaurants, buy souvenirs, clothing, parts, supplies, enjoy the sights, and, of course, buy lots of fuel. And our families and friends visit other Pueblo sites. We spend a lot of money, and there are many of us. This generates revenue for area businesses and substantial tax revenue for the City.
Additionally, we come to know Pueblo and are more likely to visit without racing to see other sights including the orchestra, Riverwalk, Zoo, and more.
If the Road Racing facility goes away, most likely all of the sales dollars, tax dollars, and visitors will go away, too.
Road Racing is an important part of our local cultural history and a facility at the Honor Farm is in perfect synch with the donor's intent. To remove this for any reason - especially the benefit of private industry - would be a great disservice to a very large constituency and a clear betrayal of the intent of the property grant.
It is equally critical to make sure the facility is well-managed. Just as you want a swimming pool or golf course run by knowledgeable, experienced managers, so you must have skilled folks at the helm of Pueblo Motorsports Park.
Please make sure the Road Racing track remains a viable track with skilled, caring, experienced management.
Thank you,
Pueblo Road Race Track user

Sorry to report significant problems continue at Pueblo.
Please take a look at this post from the Continental Divide Region's Tom Abbott, posted by Christine Jerritts on the Road Racing Forum:

If you want to help keep Pueblo available for amateur motorsports, now is the time.
