This sounds very interesting. Especially since I don't want to spend tons of money on something that won't make us faster (except for Panda's!)

Dan actually has some paint experience so this could be an option.

Here's a link on club4ag where a guy used this technique on a civic. The pics (although not up close shots) seem like it worked fairly well.

I subscribe to the 50/50 rule for race car paint. If it looks good from 50 feet at 50 mph its good enough. Now I may have to change it to the 50/50/50 rule and add costs less than $50.

I also subscribe to the 50/50 rule. I painted my race car with $30 worth of green tractor paint in the backyard. For my daily driver '66 Mustang I splurged for a $200 base coat, clear coat. it's more in the 30/30 realm.

yeah, go cheep. You can even get a nice panda effect with some black krylon on the hood...;)
