Hey,

so I'm a newbie to the whole solo experience but just got a 2005 audi S4 and my friend has been bugging me to come try out solo. I'm a bit confused as to which stock class I fit into though, if i click the "national solo rules" link on the left side of this page it brings me to a new page where I downloaded a .pdf file to the effect of "Car classifications by make" and it says my S4 would be F-stock. But then my friend shows me another website which looks legit(I don't know where he found it) which says I should be running A-stock.

Normally I would just look at the other cars in the class to determine which seems like the more appropriate but neither seems too fitting, either I'm against camaros and mustangs who likely struggle to put those eight cylinders of power to the ground or I'm against S2000's whom I assume would tear the big old S4 to pieces on a tight little solo course.

So if anyone could give me a 100% sure answer about which class I belong in, I would appreciate it thought I plan on coming to the next Dick's Sporting Goods event regardless of class.

Thanks!
Jon

It looks like you're in FS...

F Stock (FS)
Audi
S4 V8 (‘04+)

If your Audi is a V8 that is.
I don't know Audi's at all but I looked at the rules and found that entry.

Is the RS4 and the S4 the same thing? I don't think so...

A Stock (AS)
Audi
RS4

Good luck.

Just what I was hoping for, more mixed results haha. I guess for now I'll have to go with F-stock as this document from national scca website states. I can't find anywhere with specific regional rules so I assume National rules apply?

RS4

Agreed, except for the twin turbo part. Pretty sure it's an NA engine, just a tuned up and revved up version of the s4 engine.

Hey all, I'm Jon's friend who's been bugging him to get out.

The discrepancy is between the national solo rules pdf found here:http://www.scca.org/documents/Solo%20Rules/2008_Stock_Category_Classifications_By_Manufacture r.pdf

And off this website, pulled off the "Getting started" section of RM solo over on the left: http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/2006/stockm.html

As far as I can see, the second link is out of date (from 2006), whereas the national rules are from 2008. This would mean that Jon, you're in F-Stock, and that the "Getting started" page should be updated.

Thanks all!

Yup. Several of the links provided in the Getting Started section lead to sites/pages that are not maintained by RMSolo.org, so we have no control over updating/correcting them. They're just provided as a general reference. The current year's SCCA rule book is always the final authority.

Sorry if those links caused any confusion!

I apparently looked at that second page you mentioned, because when I was classing my 2005.0 S4 I've ended up running as 73 AT. I'm not really driving to be competitive, so I don't REALLY care that much about what class, but I was kind of surprised at the 4/20 event when the RS4 was running in a different heat than I was.
