As I talked about at our driver's meeting, the plan this year is to focus on fun and driver improvement. As a means to that end, Dan and I have a few fun things planned where, yes, you may learn something :-)

One of the key components of this is our new found fascination with data acquisition and analysis. (Thanks Grant for giving us something else to spend a pile of money on). Several drivers are now carrying Traqmates or other data acquisition in their cars: me, Goodman, Barclay, Leonard, Latham

Since we have a critical mass of Traqmates available now, we'll be using data from those devices to drive a variety of discussion topics--all focused on making you faster, more efficient, and safer at our TT venues. I'll be combining in-car video (and perhaps also Paul Leonard) with the data for our Saturday night classes (hopefully).

So, to kick things off, we'll get some (links to) data posted for La Junta. In order to view it, go to www.traqmate.com to download their free software called "Traqvision". With it, you'll be able to load the data files that we post here.

If you haven't already taken Grant's data acquisition class, I recommend it. If we get enough interest here, perhaps he can setup a class this year for TT/CR drivers, or you can join one that he's already got scheduled. Contact Grant if interested.

I'll post my data, or links to it, later this week. In the mean time, get that software loaded.

If you find that you like the idea of data acquisition, and a Traqmate fits your interest level and budget, contact Kinch Reindl who is a local Traqmate dealer.

Paul, Grant, Jake, and anyone else that collected data Sunday, please post!

Here's a couple of TraqMate screen shots from La Junta.
Sorry they're not bigger ... the 97k limit on rmsolo restricts me.

I picked out one of the faster laps ... a 52.4, or something like that.
(Track record is 50.9, FYI)

In the plot you will see the track map generated from the GPS.
(accurate to a few feet, I believe).

The 3 plots next to it are lateral g's, longitudinal g's, and velocity.
Lateral g's were pretty much about 1.5 in the corners.
Long g's show braking forces about 0.8 g's, and you can see each of the shift points.

The friction circle shows everthing offset to the left, because 6 of the 7 turns on track are right turns!

The second plot shows a new line I was trying to take through T3.
I wouldn't recommend it, though!

I've tried that line through corner 3 twice at La Junta. I also used a modified version through 7.
