I'm looking for a link to the track at La Junta. Anyone have one? I need a track map to "memorize".

I found this. Is it accurate?

Is it accurate? There's no apron (that little wide space) at the exit of Turn 3 anymore. It's just straight pavement there now. Other than that, the map is pretty much right.

Here's an aerial view: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=la+junta,+co&ie=UTF8&ll=38.042946,-103.522056&spn=0.007816,0.007725&t=h&z=17

Yep, it used to be part of a runway.

And here's a lap video. http://home.comcast.net/~lonemustang/4-29-07sm.wmv

Cool! Thanks David.

As for directions, does this sound correct:

I-25 to Pueblo. Go East on US-50.
Follow US-50 to 109 (in La Junta) and turn left (North).
Turn right (East) on Harris Rd.
Follow Harris Rd. to 1st Ave (?) and turn left (West).
Follow 1st Ave (?) to the track entrance.

As for directions, does this sound correct:That will work. You might find it a little quicker to turn left (NE) onto Otero Ave from Harris Rd, and then left again on Railroad St, which will turn back to the NE and take you right to the well-marked entrance (that's how most folks go).

Another route to La Junta many of us like to take, practical for anyone close to or north of I-70:

I-70 to Limon
CO Hwy 71 to US 50
US 50 to La Junta

Aside from a few small towns along the way, CO 71 is fairly desolate country---few amenities, little traffic, and your cellular coverage might be broken through there (something to consider). There is probably a viable shortcut straight to the track from CO 71, too, but I can't vouch for one.

Here's a smaller, simpler, yet in many ways more accurate map of the track:

And here's another lap video---Dylan Smith in his '96 Honda Civic DX in STS trim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65GZC78rlS8

I going to tow my car to work on Saturday morning then take off early (3:00PM) and head down and stay overnight (The PDX and volunteer classes are on Saturday night).

What are your plans?

Saturday night is the best time to be at any club racing event. It's like Pro Solo was 10-15 years ago(party). The site is a little hard to find the first time. But once you do, you're open to all the fun that is RMD. Food, Drink( if I get to Kyle's this week) I have margritas. Ask Mary La Rue about my Margaritas.

I was thinking about running the TT that weekend. Then I thought I thought it would be a good weekend to give back to the club. Now I'm I'm working and getting drunk.

One will have to attend La Junta in order to find out the meaning of the secret phase.

Depends on the corner. T1-5 have decent runoff, 6-7 not so much. Don't drive off in 6 or 7.

Brian

by working you also qualify for a free PDX on Sunday morning, so bring your helmet
