(Posting for Clay, who is lost somewhere in the Heart of Darkness^WTexas)

The event this weekend WILL NOT be moved from Sunday to Saturday. The current weekend forecast is not bad enough to justify moving at this (very) late stage. THE EVENT COULD STILL BE CANCELLED IF THE WEATHER SITUATION DRAMATICALLY WORSENS. So, keep an eye on this forum, and check your email the night before and morning of the event, as an email notification will be sent out to all registered drivers if the event is cancelled.

Thank you Kevin (and Clay). This is the appropriate action at this late time. Let's hope that the forecast for Sunday of 20% changes to < 10% chance of precip.

Thanks for the update. Was starting to wonder if I needed to get my stuff together for tomorrow!

Take care,

Ed

 If I am not coming do I need to remove my registration. If so I can not find it on the sight.

I believe once registration has closed you can't remove your reservation. So you MUST come.

Seriously, I don't think it's a big deal if you are registered and can't come. There are a few every event.

Take care,

Ed

Looking pretty good to me. Weatherunderground has this for Colorado Springs tomorrow:

"Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs 45 to 53. North winds 15 to 25 mph becoming south 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation 20 percent."

I hope the weather report is wrong as I still see 30% chance of rain/snow by noon.

The CDOT camera in Monument hasn't been updated since 11:30 last night as of now, but we have more snow in our back yard than was expected in Westminster! The live cameras along I-25 in Denver don't look so good. :( I'm thinking the trailer and Miata stay in the garage...

In north springs and over MMNT hill I can see dark blue sky! Yay!

Tom Hunsinger sent this at 4:29am:

"Light flurries, damp roads, dusting of snow on lawn in south Denver. Not bad at all."

Monument hill appears to be clear; at my house, there's been no snow or rain at all. Today's event is on!

All you Denver folks, if I-25 has snow, I suggest you drive over Tom's lawn as an alternate route. :)

See you at the WA!

Clay

Snow cover and snowing where I am, just north of Denver. It's 28 degrees. That's a no go for me.

Light dusting of snow in Highlands Ranch (6:10am) near Santa Fe. Will keep my fingers cross and see what it looks like further south! Going to be a cold one!

If anybody in Golden hasn't headed out yet and is planning to drive there on Falkens I strongly advise against it. The north bit of C470 has some snow on it especially on bridges and onramps. I had 1 near spin and 2 smaller skids in the first mile of C470 (fortunately no traffic and wide shoulders so I had room to recover without hitting anything) before I decided to turn around. Well, good luck on the autocross and safe travels to and from for everybody who can actually make it there.

Now I will sit here and not go back to bed thanks to the pre trip cup of coffee and all the adrenaline associated with going sideways on a freeway.

Wow, sounds like quite a trip, if a short one! Glad you made it home safe!

The first patch of snow I hit that almost spun me was on really light colored concrete, so I didn't even see it until the tail stepped out. So after getting back home safely I still had so much adrenaline pumping that it was about noon before I was doing anything more than watching TV and twitching.
