A perfect candidate for the Street Survival program. Get him on the skid pad and yank on the E-Brake when he least expects it. "This is what happens when you do that..."

"apparently he didn't do it very well..." enough said.

Sad story, do we have a 'special list' of names from news like this if they show up at an event ?

People like this are the reason I get harassed by the cops in my Eclipse at least once a month. Its probably the saddest and most annoying thing ever! I'm sorry but I don't really feel bad for him. In fact I had a good friend of mine die because of something like this and I have to say I still don't feel bad.

I wondered about that myself. I don't know VDubs and wasn't sure if a Jetta is FWD or RWD.

So real life isn't like it's shown on TV? Who'd a thunk!!!

Someone who knows VWs better may have a better answer, but I think in general for Volkswagen:

Air cooled = Rear wheel drive

Water cooled = FWD, with the exception of some Vanagons....

Dude, that's my MR2 right now! The dizzy shaft seal is leaking and Toyota want you to buy a whole new distributor to fix it. I had to order the O ring from NAPA. Comes in on Monday. 'Till then I'm leaking a half quart every 100 miles!

<Woody> "It's not drifting, it's skidding.. with style!" </Woody>

Maybe not so much style in this case...

Right at the beginning of the article is an obvious oxymoron: drag racing maneuver called a "drift". Correct me if i'm wrong (i'm foreign after all), but aren't those two a bit different?
I do like the quote from the police officer though: "He apparently didn't do it very well," Trooper Gilbert Mares said of the driver's attempted drift. :p
Hey Ryan, remember the drive from our last icecross?

Drifting and drag racing are different motor sports. A drift would be very undesirable during a drag race.
