Great experience today. Was driving my car to get gas today when the driver front wheel popped off and hit some poor woman in a minivan.
Apparently, I wasn't anal enough about re-tightening my lugnuts after I bled my brakes. I feel like a total idiot (lugnut if you will). Of course I now have a 2 point ticket for driving an unsafe vehicle. The woman in the minivan was extremely nice about the whole thing.
Yes, I'm a dumba$$. :o

ha! I'm not the only one this has happened too. :D
Once you torque all your lugs, then torque them again. Move to grid, torque them again...and then right before you go for a run... Torque'em again! Can never be too sure.
Some people on this list may remember my "wheel" performance. At World Arena, taking a hard right and the car going straight.. wheel rolled out from under the car... up towards the road. Hit a curb, flew in the air like 50 feet or so..came down...hit the ground then started down towards the arena then hit the tire of an SUV.
Total damage: Had to replace wheel bearing and hub, and brake rotor. The tire also did some custom flairing as well :)

that has to be one of my biggest fears while running....well that, light poles and curbs. i have video of Rick Ruth (CP mustang from chicago) loosing a wheel at peru last year. it was the only run my wife didnt ride with him.
funny how when that happens, after we find out nobody is hurt EVERYONE checks there lugs.
