There is some good news on the Winter Series front!
Clay has secured World Arena for December 9th and February 10th. I am working on securing dates for November, January, and March (one each month). I will post dates and places when I get confirmation, hopefully later this week. The details such as times and other sorts of things will come out later as well. Mark those calendars and stay tuned!

Tom, that is excellent news!
Any chance of another practice event or possibly an Autocross school that we could hold up at Cloverleaf again? I'd love to have another event up here... And since it's winter series, it's not too serious. :)

I was going to ask a similar question, but then I thought, isn't the whole winter series kind of practice? That's what I'm going to use it for. I have a couple of car set up ideas and parts I want to try, and I think I've been trying to hard to finish well and not experimenting with different ways of driving. But being up at Cloverleaf for a Winter Series event is just fine with me. I'm going to try to make as many as I can. I want to be set for better finishes by next Summer! Look out E Stock!

Finish school so you can get a good job and then be able to afford all the autocrosses you want for the rest of your life! :)

I think I would need Bill Gates's income to afford all the autocrosses I want for the rest of my life! Lemme see, six or seven days a week, six runs a day, tire warehouse and mounting machine on site...

No kidding. I've been using Quicken to track all my car building and running expenses. I've got just under $30,000 invested in the car, power plant, suspension, tools, tires, wheels, seats.... You know, all the good stuff. (That doesn’t include the 2.5 car garage w/6000# lift either). It’s no wonder that an F1 team needs a ˝ a BILLION to be competitive!
When I look at that, it makes me wonder if I shouldn't have just gone down to Ralph Schomp and ordered a brand new S2000-CR? But then I wouldn't have acquired all the knowledge and skills in building my Civic. Not to mention the satisfaction of doing it all by ones self.
Now that the car is 90% done (The last 10% will be taken care of over the winter… Right! Does it ever end?), I can concentrate on my driving skills tuning what I have.
My tires have barley cooled off and I getting pumped for next season already!!!

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying. Not only DO I already have about $1000 in parts waiting to be installed, I plan on doing pretty much a complete engine rebuild over the winter. All that while trying to buy a home too.
Come on year end bonus!!!!

Well, you know you have the bug when; you drive from Denver to Boulder everyday, in race buckets, five point harnesses, and a half cage, because you only have one car and having it set up for autocross is more important then daily comfort!

Oh yah!!! Today I was driving up US 285 headed to the grocery store and went through the construction zone just west of Conifer. They had their cones spaced just right. :D "I could jump in right here and... No!!! Self control... Self control... You'd never get away with it."

I can't tell you the number of times that has gone through my head...especially scary when I'm in the motorhome:D

If it's "OK" to run one in the Baja 1000, why not try slaloming in one. Just remember, it's usually that third cone that gets ya!!!

Well, I have been trying to see how close I can get to the cones. I need to work on that. Only when there's not worker guys near them, but yeah, I get pretty close! I never noticed before, but their cones are taller. Makes it easier to see how close you are 'cause you can see them longer.

Bandimere does become available during winter (they are full during the summer) and of course there is Cloverleaf. All are in consideration.

I haven't been to Bandimere since the late '70s. Is there a lot suitable for X-Cross there now? I see it listed in the directions section on our site. I just assumed we had 1320ft cone-less events there from time to time or Test & Tune stuff.

Once upon a time we used the upper lot and staging lot for events, but as our events grew and car speeds forced safety to become more strict we stopped using the site. I'm not sure why I haven't taken the directions of the web site, maybe some sort of historical value.

There will be a Solo at Coors Field on November 4th. Look for the opening of registration soon. The Rockies couldn't look into their crystal ball any further so we will need to wait for the January and March dates. I think they are worried that the Rockies may need to keep playing and winning through the winter.

The pits are pretty huge, and if I remember correctly dont have light poles. havent been there in years though, so im not sure.

Bandimere is nice for small numbers, but the size and shape of the lot make a big autox event there very difficult.
I remember when we were still running there that paddock parking had become increasingly more and more challenging as the entry numbers grew.
edit: But that was 6+ years ago. Might be some additional asphalt there by now...

I always thought Bandimere was a disaster waiting to happen. Wide open ten feet away from drainage ditches is not good, but we did it every event. I recall a Rabbit rolling (going uphill, no less), but no other incidents. I dunno. The dog track is fun, but I don't think I would run at Bandimere again, personally.

Geoff-Bob, I personally remember you spinning wildly towards the edge, with corner workers scattering to the four winds to get out of your way. Thankfully, nothing untoward happened, but it did highlight just one (or two) of the risks of using that site.

I ran a couple of BMW series events there a few years ago.
Never again.
At least on the upper lot.

Yup- you weren't supposed to remember that one. I was watching corner workers through my side window running AWAY from the light pole. Youch!

Never a good sign when corner workers run away from solid, protective objects!
