Over the weekend the Lotus Owners Gathering 2007 (LOG27) took place in Snowmass. There was a concours on Saturday, an autocross on Sunday and a track day on Monday. Featured speakers were Clive Chapman (son of Colin), Emerson Fittipaldi, and Alain de Cadenet. My wife and I set up the autocross on a postage stamp lot. Thanks to Michael Feldpusch for the design which we adapted from Google Earth to reality. The course was tight, safe but fun. Even the guy who brought an Esprit had fun. Here's some pictures, I hope they post OK.

They're fantastic. The guy in the red Elise was planning to hit cones with every part of the car!
Always wanted a Europa after I saw one at an SCCA show in the local mall as a kid.

I saw a few of these guys driving along 285 last weekend - Some pretty amazing machines. Awesome pictures!

Cool, I'd have gone just to hear the guest speakers.
My jury is out on Alain; he seems like such a pompous dweeb on TV, but it is pretty clear that he -really- likes cars.

Obligatory De Cadenet clip

NOT SAFE FOR WORK!!!!! no nudity, but bad language at the end of the clip, you have been warned.
I really enjoyed the Speedvision shows that highlighted classic cars. Hosted by Alain and usually showing him driving the car at speed around some English Estate.
Seems like a nice enough guy on the couple of times we have met.

Alain De Cadenet was fun - very funny and very entertaining.
He explained - in great detail - how his whole racing career was based on his desire to meet women.
(My wife thinks De Cadenet is the suavest guy on the planet - even more than Sean Connery.)
Other speakers included photographer Peter Darley, Lotus mechanic Bob Fancy, and some guy named Emerson Fittipaldi. Who also drove his World Championship-winning Lotus 72 at Woody Creek. Wow, that was cool.
It was a very fun weekend.
