I started autocrossing in 05/06 and then had to take a year off. I drive an SVT Focus and due to my throttlebody, I was in DSP. My understanding is that you start with what class your car is in stock (in 05 I was D) and due to mods you move up out of stock(?) Hence, I figured I was in DSP.

I registered for this sundays event and once the registration closed I looked to see who I would be running with. My guess is that the wierd mix of new cars just didnt seems right...a saleen mustang and a subie RS seemed a bit odd. I then backed up and looked to see where I would be if I ran stock and SVT Focus is no longer D but G.....and I dont see a GSP listed.

So where am I supposed to be? This may seem like a really retarded question, but I checked the miles of rules and documentations to the best of my ability and couldnt find an answer.

Thanks for your help!

Jason, what other modifications other than your throttle body do you have? You do not use the stock class and add SP to get your modified class. There are several sets of modified classes. Look in the rule book and based on your modifications figure out which level you belong in. If you are indeed in Street Prepared the cars are listed in the various SP classes by make and model just like in stock. It looks like a Focus SVT would be in DSP according to the rule book. It is important to know how much stuff you have modified to make sure whether you belong in FSP or perhaps a different class may be better suited for the level that your car is prepared. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Hey Jason, you're running with us man. The SVT Focus is DSP. Some stock cars benefit greater from SP mods than others.

For example:
-Mazda Protege = HS
-Toyota Corolla GT-S = HS
-Honda Civic Si (89-91) = HS

But throw on some suspension, lsd, r-comps, etc. and now:
-Mazda Protege = FSP
-Toyota Corolla GT-S (84-87) = DSP
-Honda Civic Si (89-91) = CSP

DSP and FSP does have quite the mix.

See you at the next event. It's been a while since I've seen you out there!
