View Full Version : Best Tire Gauge?

After discovering last weekend that my cheapo tire gauge was off by 10psi, I'm deciding on getting something that is decent quality.

Just wondering what others here are using?

I prefer the needle over a digital.

I don't run pressures over 60 or even close so should I keep my search narrowed to the 0-60psi gauges?

Would prefer a quicker bleeding gauge as well.

Longacre seems to pop up in my search a lot. Are those good?

Thanks,
Van

I've had a couple of Longacres, they seem OK. Not sure what we're using this year, it is black and glows in the dark.

If your optometrist sucks, you can get the Big Ben of gauges like Barry has. I feel bad for Barry, he'd be superfast if he could see; there's no other reason to have the "flavor-flav" of tire pressure gauges that I can think of.

If you've got a decent gauge - hose type, 0-60psi, Longacre, whatever - the best gauge is the one you used last time:). Comparing gauges, they're not often exactly the same - get a decent one, use it all the time. Consistency and stuff (kinda like compression tester gauges).

Anyway - Longacre is fine, I've had good luck with mine; liquid filled, not liquid filled, shrug, go to AAI or order something out of Summit - once you figure out that your car likes XXpsi, keep it there, on the same gauge.

I picked up a Longacre from Check Point Racing I got the 23$ model the thing I see with mine is that it does not hold the air psi, The liquid filled mite I'm not sure.
So far I like mine it bleeds off air quickly, I have not compaired it to my other one yet anyway.

...... for bad eyesight.;) I like my gauge because it's very accurate but mostly because it's easy to read .1 psi changes. When your tires only have 14 psi, it's good to be able to read down to the tenth.

Oops, sorry, did not think you'd be able to read that. Do you have one of those huge magnifying glasses over your monitor?
