The site is blocked from work.
RSS/XML feeds only deliver the headline + a link to the body.

I miss the daily chatter...a lot.

Has anyone figured out a way to get the whole post + body either emailed or uplifted to another website yet?
I noticed that the subscription feature describes it as "instant *notification* by email - leading me to believe that the subscription feature is just like RSS/XML, in that it does not send you the whole post...(but I subscribed anyway, just to confirm...)

Well there are several "sneaky" ways, but most if not all of them would violate the usage policies of almost any corporate network. I cannot think if a way to access the stuff with running thru some sort of proxy or having a mirror site somewhere pulling the data for you.

I am not sure if any of the scraping scripts would be able to do this, but I have not used them too much so I might be wrong on that one.

Worse - I work for the City and County of Denver...which isn't really the point, because the Internet Usage Policy is pretty much identical to the usage policies anywhere...nothing spectacular.

The difference being that we're using a third party software package (bluecoat) to rigidly and inflexibly enforce the policy. If you come to a blocked site and it's mislabeled (for instance, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer blog was labelled as "Sports, Gambling" when we first installed the software) there's a link on the "you have accessed a blocked site" page that you can follow to fill out a form to recategorize the site - and the vendor has someone reexamine the site and recategorize it if need be. They stay out of Policy making entirely - they just categorize sites, and your IT personnel put in rules that match your Corporate Internet Usage Policy... If your (whacked out) corporate policy allows pr0n, but denies Auction Sites, then Playboy will be passed, and Ebay will be blocked.
(in the S. P-I's case, it was relabeled to "News/Media, Events, Sports" and the Policy allows that. When I submitted both RMSOLO and SCCA.com they were reclassified from "Sports/Recreation" to "Sports/Recreation, Automotive")

The Subscription feature is exactly like the XML feature - it sends the headline, and a link to the forum only.

The bit that ultimately gets to me is that I feel as though I was sold a bill of goods...
"Oh, don't worry...the email list is going away, but there are plenty of options that will allow you to continue to get RMSOLO content via your email client..."

...and on that premise, I accepted the change. And now, a month or so later, after exploring the options that were presented fairly fully, I'm finally 100% convinced that it is indeed, *not* possible to get RMSOLO content via your email client, and that is *truly* disappointing.
Headlines are not "Content" - particularly if you just have a look at the Subject Lines of the various topics in the forums...the're oft-times not exactly...descriptive...
"season points??? "
"Tire Museum Closing!" - in the Classified section...funny title...great post...but not much help if all you get is the title.. *g*

Right, this is probably because you've subscribed to replies to this thread. Mr. Barton is right - currently, subscribing to a forum will not send you full text copies of every posting to it. The RSS/XML feeds are not what I'd like them to be, but I don't currently have time to get them fixed.

Jonathon - does this version of the site get past your content policy software?
