View Full Version : Snow + Car (Part Deux).....
So I got home early from work. Did some dishes. Took down the Christmas tree. Shoveled the driveway. Decided to make use of the last few minutes of daylight and do some donuts! Didn't have anyone to film me so I took care of it myself.....

And again, there was a plow working on the other end of the lot. Figured I'd help him out some.

Just out of curiosity, does your Audi have the stock suspension or an aftermarket setup? It kind of looked like the car wanted to understeer and took some coaxing to get sideways. That being said, right now I am very jealous of your AWD.

As Chief of Safety, I certainly can not condone that.
;)
It was funny, though, to see you roll up the window after the snow poured in!
Aftermarket. Snow tires don't want to go sideways as much as summer tires or all seasons. Car is front heavy as well. I'm not sure as to what percent of power is distributed to the front wheels but I believe I've read it's more than the rears so it behaves like a front wheel drive (it sure did autocrossing it).
I turned the traction control off. It's pretty much impossible to do donuts with the traction control on. Amazing how this car refuses to slide around or get squirrely with traction control on. Those Germans know their stuff!

Interesting. The rear of my WRX tends to step out when I gun it in a straight line. Subaru claims a 50/50 power distribution, so I figured it more of an issue of weight. On the other hand, the car understeers like there's no tomorrow.
On a side note, this is the first winter I've really had some fun with the car. Because of auto-x'ing, I have a good idea on how the car is going to behave in the snow. The beauty of AWD is passing a Ford Explorer in 6" of snow. I had to. She was going about 1-2 mph, and I really wanted to get to Walmart! I wish I had a camera to get a shot of the passenger's face.
