Well, I set out today to come down and (finally) put my money where my mouth is, and join.
Money in the budget? Check.
Checkbook in hand? Check.
Membership form? Er...the printer prints it in lovely shades of magenta.
No worries, I'll fill one out at Registration - with that big case of site waivers and other miscellaneous paperwork that gets hauled around to every event that I've ever been to, I KNOW there is a whole section in it for Blank Membership Forms - I got one out of it last winter, filled it out, then bought a race car, car parts and a new house, and never sealed the deal.

So...I get to Registration, and am asked the everpresent question..."Are you a Member?", to which I reply "Not yet, but I'm going to become one today...got a form?"

"Uhhh, Umm...I don't think so...lemme ask..."
The gent asks...and gets the answer..."No, I don't think so..."
"Uhhh...we don't seem to have any Membership forms. I know a lot of people print them out at home and bring them with them...but since you didn't, and we don't have any, I'm afraid it'll be $35 to participate today."

So, what's the deal with *that*?
I can't tell you how completely frustrating that was.

Not only am I *not* an SCCA Member tonight like I'd planned, but I'm out an additional $10 that I wouldn't have had to pay if someone (ANYONE) had actually *looked in the Paperwork Box* to see if any really were in there or not...or if someone (ANYONE) had thought "Hmmm...we should *DEFINITELY* have Membership Forms available at ALL events, because we'll take money from anyone willing to throw it at us.

Or....

You could do it online now and have your membership number in less than 5 minutes. Go here:

http://www.scca.com/Join/Index.asp

go down to Regular Membership its a link to the online form that you can fill out, use your credit card and boom...you're done.

With being a Novice last year I registered online this way and it was so easy. No worrying if they got your check and form. Just click your way over there and 10 minutes at the most you're done. You can have a temp card with membership # emailed to you so you can race at the discounted rate if they haven't sent you your card yet.

Jonathon, show me your membership card at the next event and I'll see you get a credit at the next WA event.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks to Scott N. for ensuring we have membership forms in the trailer next time.

I'm curious as to which "paperwork box" you are referring to. If you are referring to the box with the waivers that get signed at the gate.. well it was at the gate where it belongs during the event.
